Brit Hotel Confort CAMBRAI

Across the street rom the hotel is an undertaker/funeral parlor, and this says it all. The hotel is worn down, and tired, paint is peeling off, not a pleasent smell in the room, no kettle for making coffee, staircase and steps made of wood, and so seems the ceiling in the room also to be, as one could clearly hear people moving and walking in the rooms on the next floor? Would hate to be there in case of a fire! Electriccal heater in the room, nothing in the bathroom, hairdryer stopped working after being turned on. The usual story about ecology and saving water in the bathroom, however the toilet had only ONE button to flush, so no savings there! Pictures on your site Hotels.com do not look like the real thing. The hotel says it is a 3 star COMFORT hotel? The inspector who gave this rating has clearly not been visiting the hotel, as there is no comfort, I would hate to stay at a 2 star Brit hotel, if this is a 3 star hotel. Admitted not expensive, but all hotels in Cambrai had more or less the same price, we chose this one because of the restaurant! However the restaurant was CLOSED on friday, saturday and sunday which is not mentioned on your site? The lady in the reception told us to go to a restaurant which was supposed to be a 5 minutes drive away. However after spending a whole day in a car, one does not want to drive in the dark to find a restaurant, so we went by foot next door to IBIS hotel, whre we ate and shared a bottle of rosé for Euro 11,00 which is a steal!

Hotel exterior in need of some TLC. Young man on Reception was very polite and helpful. Room was fine - everything that you need. Evening meal extremely good value for money. Breakfast buffet excellent. Very convenient for motorway stop-over.

The staff are very helpful and friendly. Most staff speak some English which is good when you are tired after a long journey and seem to have forgotten any french you knew. The beds was lovely and comfortable and the French external blinds cut out noise and light for a peaceful sleep. The room and ensuite bathroom are clean. The breakfast is continental with plenty to choose from and includes cereal, yoghurt and fruit. There were some eggs, bacon and sausages and a toaster. Coffee very good from the machine. There is also tea and hot chocolate available although no drink making facilities in the rooms. The restuarant serves a variety of starters, mains and desserts and there is a discount for two and three courses. There is no lift to rooms on the second and third floors but there are a few ground floor rooms. Staff will help you with your bags if required.
