Unfortunately, this hotel did not meet the standards of the five-star property it claims to be - not even close! While the hotel had some good features (decent breakfast, friendly English-speaking receptionist, a small fridge and stove in the room, etc.), there are major concerns you should be aware of: (1) Very limited concierge availability. While the Newel hotel website states that the property has a 24-hour concierge, the front desk is only staffed from 8:30am – 3:00pm. I ran into an issue when I couldn’t check in online and ended up standing outside the hotel door at night trying to contact someone for ~30+ minutes! (2) Limited security. Not only is there not 24-hour security, but there also is no chain or deadbolt to secure the hotel room door when you’re on the inside. I thought that was standard practice! (3) Potential bedbugs! On my third day there I noted a bug that looked very much like a bedbug. While the hotel states that it was “just a regular bug”, I found itchy bumps in many places on my body in a straight line – a telltale sign of bedbug bites. Newel was unable to move me to another room, so I did not sleep in the bed on my last night. (4) Deceptive restaurant/bar availability. Although the agoda website shows photos of a restaurant with a fully stocked bar, this is just a breakfast area, available from 7:30a to 10:00a. All the items for a fully stocked bar are just in the photo, not there in real life! (5) Nearly unusable loft. While my room had a loft (which might have been an upgrade), the ladder to the loft if very difficult to climb; the rungs are thin metal rods that dig into your feet. Moreover, the “bed” up there is a mattress on the floor, so don’t expect a full second bed! (6) Inability to resolve problems. Once I noted all of the above problems, I tried to request an early check-out, with a refund for the days I didn’t stay at the hotel. However, Newel wasn't willing to offer a partial refund because I’d “already checked in”! How else was I supposed to find the above issues until I’d checked in? This hotel could be excellent, but unfortunately has quite a bit of work to do to meet that mark.

All good. Breakfast choice could have been better. Extra staff definitely a must as feel one staff during the couple of Breakfast hours simply not enough. Reception staff good. A huge language barrier with breakfast staff. Would recommend bed only basis due to restricted breakfast menu specially for vegetarians.

I totally recommend this hotel. It’s a nice place to stay, fully equipped, clean and comfortable.

The breakfast options were quite limited, with very little variety. On the positive side, the aparthotel was peaceful and quiet. However, considering the price paid, I feel the value was not justified — a standard hotel might offer better overall comfort for the same co
