    Very disappointing stay. The room was very dated for the price charge. There are better options in Queenstown for the price to value ratio. Cannot recommend would not stay again.

    For *** a night the Novotel Queenstown is a disappointment. The hallway carpets are tattered/dirty, the walls in my room needed to be repainted (lots of blemishes), no complimentary water, no bedside outlets, etc. It’s just not what I expected. I expressed my concerns to the director of ops and he claimed no one had ever complained. I find that very hard to believe. There’s a host of complaints on Google reviews and TripAdvisor about the state of the hotel. The director said I could switch rooms/ purported to have upgraded me, but frankly the new room wasn’t much different than my original room. Only meaningful difference was that the new room had a glass shower. So, I elected to stay in my original room. Also, one of the staff members was rude. I was maybe running 5 mins late for my Milford tour—the tour was picking me up from the hotel. One of the employees called my room and sarcastically asked: “are you going to Milford Sound today?” Come on—just say your tour is waiting for you. When I flagged this to the Director, he indicated this was very out of character for the employee who said this. Director overall was just defensive. On the otherhand, it might be above his pay grade. The GM should at the very least look into painting the rooms and installing new carpets. This hotel needs a lot of work. I’m kind of shocked it’s an Accor property.
