Big Sur Lodge

Super convenient location for hiking the local trails. Big rooms, clean, if a little dated.

Room was fine but neighbors were noisy.

Cabine spacios but a little dark. We did not use the kitchen. Fireplace heating was not working and therefore the night was freezing cold. Location is great with great hiking trauls.

The location is perfect for hiking. A nice breakfast place and gift store added to the experience. Plenty of hot water, comfortable beds and a nice fireplace.

The heater is the room was broken and wouldn’t turn off. It was set at 86 for our entire stay. I reported it to the front desk and each time I brought it up the person working there would make a joke about it or ask me if I would rather have no heat. They also kept having me repeat the room number, so many times that it seemed absurd, like some inside joke I wasn’t aware of. If they had said the heater is broken and we can’t fix it I would have understood, but instead it was always a weird interaction of making jokes and feigning surprise that heater wouldn’t turn off. They were very dismissive and never fixed the heater. The staff were poorly trained to work with customers. Basic hospitality skills were missing.

Everybody was very nice and helpful. Location in the park with access to two other parks was unbeatable if you want to get away and detach from it this is your place. No TV and spotty coverage and no microwave in room. So low on amenities but high on quiet peaceful.

We were locked out of our room on checkout day at 10:30 am for an 11 am check out. Some of the staff appeared to dislike their jobs.

Place was in Big Sur Park, great for hiking which is what we went for. Cabin was clean but did smell like fireplace smoke. No internet or TV but again that was well noted before going..

Perfect and relaxing

We stayed one night in a Queen two room cottage. This is my kind of place! Nestled among redwood trees, campground vibe. Super dark for star gazing, awesome Big Sur location. Nice big kitchen for prepping your hiking meals. Comfy bed. Very clean. WiFi only available in common areas lodge and pool. We had an issue with our heater, but a portable one was available and we were quite comfortable.

Great place enjoyed every minute Staff was outstanding friendly kind accommodating I will recommend and return I give it 10/10

No house keeping over charged me at check in. Your price was less than we had to pay.

Bed was comfortable and the room adequate. Free fire wood was left each day for the fire place The trails were in excellent condition and plainly marked. The issues were dirty carpets, it had spider webs and cobwebs, there were dead bugs and dirt in the corners of the floors, the bathroom and vanity area needed a remodel, and if you are over six feet the shower will be a challenge, Restaurant was only open from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm and you had to go to the counter to order your food which is advertised differently on their website. Parking near the lodge is limited. Check-in is at 4:00 pm but not before. People started cuing up near 4:00 pm. There was only one person at the registration desk which delays your time to check in. All the Information for the park and lodge is in the hand out material but they need to remind the guest there is no smoking in the park due the fact there were guest smoking. We guess they believe guest would read the material. There are a great number of dogs in the lodge.

Everything was way below than my expectation.

The location is beautiful, but the lack of Wi-Fi in the rooms is a bit annoying I have to admit. It was very expensive and not exactly a luxury hotel. But again it was a great location and we were just stopping by for a night.

Very rustic - trails to walk right outside - sky light to see stars while in bed. Staff was very helpful & kind. Parking was uncrowded and close to our room. Beautiful! Looking forward to going back

I really enjoyed that your reservation includes admission to 3 parks locally - that is part of the reason why I wanted to stay at the Big Sur Lodge. Looking forward to returning to the Lodge sooner than later!

Great place to set down the devices and really just enjoy nature and the trees!

Very helpful staff. Reasonable price, solid accommodations. Spacious rooms. Quiet setting. Dining options were limited - would have liked better stocked cafe and if restaurant was open for seated dining.

Definitely felt like a camp ground rather than hotel. Room smelled moldy. I didn’t realize because I booked late and online. Staff seemed to feel they were doing me a favor rather than there to serve. Not worth the money.

Cozy room but room’s carpet needs to be updated. Everything else was comfortable for a lodge. Check in was only at 4 pm and we waited 45 minutes to check in. They need more staff during that time.

Overall, I would not recommend this property. Customer service was terrible! We were told the restaurant had limited hours, nobody said you can only get carry out...the entire time. 2 workers in the coffee area were working restaurant orders and the bar, good luck getting anything. They would continuously walk away while there was a line. At check in, she was less than helpful. The room itself is probably what you should expect. The shower had mold/mildew through out. Certainly not worth the premium fee I paid to stay. I would not recommend.

Our cabin was very peaceful and comfortable and we appreciated the beautiful location in the forest and easy access to the state park hiking trails. On the day of our visit the lodge cafe was only doing takeaway service due to staff shortage and we felt the quality and quantity of food was not worth the price charged. Otherwise would not hesitate to recommend Big Sur Lodge

Location incredible. Lodge very spacious. The property in general is very nice and is rustic in a nice way. Lodges could do with minor upgrading. Paint and carpeting.

We loved our stay at Big Sur Lodge! The access to the state park was amazing and staying in the redwoods but inside in a comfy bed was the way to go. So many trails right outside the door! If I had one critique it would be their showers need updating. They are old and dingy and even the shower curtain is coming apart and gross and the shower head was inadequate for pressure - sort of like a camping shower but should at least be a bit upgraded for the cost of the rooms. Otherwise a good experience!

Being so close to the redwood made everything seem magical.

The surrounding area was a little misleading about how few trails I could take my on. The room was well appointed. Comfy bed. soft towels. Tea bags and hot water kettle was great to have.
