Sherlock - The Vestry on Read

This place is absolutely gorgeous! I was so excited to stay here after seeing the photos online. Every detail of the is purposely placed. We are from Columbia, SC so we chose to stay here instead of with family. We especially appreciated the washer and dryer. We loved the full kitchen and loft area. My kids enjoyed the basket of board games. There is plenty of parking, a spacious lobby area and lots of space inside. The host was very responsive. The look and feel of our apartment made me feel like I was royalty! I really wished we could have stayed longer despite the last night.

There were only a few things that concerned me and prevented me from giving a 4/4 rating. 1. The door to The Sherlock would not lock properly no matter how hard you would shut it. We could tell that it was trying to latch because about every hour or so, the door would make a spinning noise like it was resetting. I was okay with it because the main door would lock, but my husband was concerned. I would still recommend this place to anyone visiting Columbia. 2. Regrettably, the worst part of our stay was the last 2 days when the air conditioning in the downstairs bedroom crashed and for 2 days all we heard was the loud humming noise from the air conditioning unit. I tried turning it on and off using the remote and the wall panel, but nothing helped. I contacted the host on the 2nd day. I was told to do everything that I had already tried. I was hoping that there was a reset button or maintenence person available to help me but there wasn't. Unfortunately we had to leave at 4am for our 18 hour flight back to Korea and we didn't get any sleep. My husband and I took turns driving to Atlanta because both of us were so exhausted. I really don't want to leave a negative review, I just want to be honest about our experience. These are fixable issues. I'm sure on our next visit they will be resolved.
