The situation of the chalet between two roads meant we had to go either up a lot of steps - or down quite a few steps to the door. The children didn’t mind at all - but it wasn’t easy for me, their grandmother. But we got used to the climbs ….

Peacefulness, Quietness, Richness, Stillness. Our stay was serene, sublime, seraphic. The place was immaculate, enthralling, not only invigorating, but restorative. At all times, communicating with the concierge was perfectly and rapidly done, every need being accomplished, information received and guidance granted. The panorama is spectacularly scintillating, certainly celestial. It appeared to be home. Words cannot do justice to the splendour of this place (which occupies the palace of my memories and memoirs). I can only summon Rainer Maria Rilke in order to express the epiphanic experience of existing here (for a while): “Coming's never far-off, and departing never wholly absent when it's gone; yet a sound's return can be imparting multifarious life such unison that the lonely self-unknower stays restfully in its proportionednesses, till once more on alien streets he presses onwards into dissassembled days. Coming back again:— how he delights to be coming back again and greeting, while from wishes otherwhiles so fleeting something actual and warm unites, whose existence, meaning, law, affection for a while avails for him no less, and, as though it took him in protection, long accompanies his loneliness.” and “There the house still seems as delightful as ever; ‘ours’ in the self-same thought we’re calling it, ours could the path be, ours the bench; fragrance of roses, winds of incipient love flutter open the heart where it has never yet been opened, between two older pages.” Assuredly, I, we, will return there many times…

This chalet was a fantastic find. Very well equipped (kitchen, board games, cinema room, balcony grill,...), clean, and comfortable. Traditionally looking from the outside but very modern on the inside. The place is conveniently located, about 40-50 minutes by car from Saas Fee, from Täsch (Zermatt) as well as from Fiesch (Aletsch). The concierge (Allexe) was helpful and replied very promptly. Upon request, two parking spots were arranged for us. We also had a last minute change of plans, with a tenth person joining the group, which wasn't a problem for Allexe at all. The apartment sometimes felt a bit tight for 10 people, especially near the entrance area when leaving for our day trips, but there were plenty of bedrooms and the beds were all super comfortable. And the kids never felt bored at all! The location in St German was ideal for us: silent and peaceful, away from the main overcrowded touristic hubs, relatively near the major Wallis highway, and in sufficient proximity to many interesting hiking spots. Overall, we would not hesitate to visit again!

Below are a few comments to complete the picture. These should not necessarily be seen as negatives as they had very little impact on our overall really exceptional experience! We felt a bit overwhelmed by the plentiful electronics and the "smart home" integration of the devices. Figuring out how to control everything took some time and multiple brains. Some guide or basic information available at the apartment would be helpful. I assume that the presence of all the electronics is the main reason for the rather large 800CHF deposit. We also thought it could be preferable to replace the desk and computer (which we didn't use anyways) with a small sofa, providing a bit more of a "living room area" to relax in the apartment. We also didn't expect the rapid stairs climb from the parking spot to the apartment -- that was really something! 😅 But we didn't consider that a problem at all. One thing that surprised us: there is no raclette machine in the apartment (despite the kitchen being otherwise greatly equipped -- including the cheese fondue setup). We tried the sauna in the basement once. It works great, although it is somewhat inconvenient that there is no adjacent toilet near the sauna.

- cleanliness - one could say it was clean, but we started our stay from: cleaning all the spider webs (there were a lot in the entire appartment), cleaning all moths and other bugs (surely there were more than could just accidentaly flew), cleaning under the beds (a lot of dust and some spiders) - looking at the pictures we had the feeling of very modern appartment, however real feeling differs. Photos are accurate but probably with some filters to make better impression. That's just our feeling. - there is some computer and 2 screens but they don't seem to be usable? - we didn't like the deposit and additional offers 50 CHF for early check-in and late check-out. The deposit was stated in offer, so that's just our feeling. - sauna is placed in a basement also with bugs and spiders and laundry room, doesn't seem appealing - some minor problem with parking space during our stay
