Cold!

Location is great and so were the staff.

Rooms freezing cold, the heater in the room didn’t work but we were given a portable one that took the chill off. Very poor on the cheap DIY where they have tried to update the room. With some money and TLC this hotel does have potential such a shame our stay wasn’t the best and not worth what was paid.

Ideal place to stay when visiting friends in the village, and the warm welcome was appreciated

Spent the evening in the pub - the open fire was very welcome on a cold day and both staff & regulars were really friendly. Manager quickly sorted a problem with the room key Lots of choices for a hot breakfast

We weren't quite ready for the steep, wide stairs! We're healthy and agile though, so we quickly adjusted. It's an old building so not something that can be changed.

Overnight stay to see family

Loved the location. 10 minutes walk to my brother's house. Included breakfast was very nice. The en-suite shower was nice. Plenty of parking.

The room was on a slope, so the head of the bed was lower than the foot of it. Had to sleep the wrong way round. There was a lot of stairs to climb to get to our room.

Beds were not comfortable. Heat kept on going off. No shower In the washroom, only a bath at the end of bed. Church bells outside the pub go off all night every 15 mins. Netflix and prime on TV dont work. Tiny kettle that doesnt reach the plug.

A challenge.

Staff superb and very helpful. Food very good. Actual comfort of room OK. Location good. However the stairs up to rooms 3, 4 our room, 5 and 6 are extremely dangerous at the top where they narrow and turn. I booked the White Swan as it advertised a twin bedded room (which seems to be a rarety round Filey). This meant we had to be in Room 4 which is up the dangerous stairs. As I am somewhat disabled in movement and the climb and coming down was a great challenge. I was asked if I wanted to change but as this meant a double bed I didn't accept. The stairs need completely rebuilding creating a flat landing at the top so one can turn on to the corridor. The right hand hand rail needs to stand off the wall so it can be gripped properly. I am amazed that the current arrangement is acceptable to the licencing authorities.

Enjoyed the stay

It was quiet, just about the right size. Nice touch to have firestick movies although not sure if a guest left it behind. Fairly clean. Breakfast was good on the Sunday morning

Broken window, shower wasn't emptying properly. Kettle was full of old water and the mug hasn't been washed. Breakfast was undercooked on Saturday morning. The maintenance isn't up to scratch and appears very poor DIY. It was not inviting to have dinner as the atmosphere was lacking. Somewhere comfortable for guests to sit down was missing as the room was very small

Room clean tidy, with what you need in it ie tea coffee biscuits, good shower, decent TV.

Could do with some USB charger points, few more shower gel , hair shampoo for people who need it.tv could be better positioned, have to look right to see it whilst in bed, however a two seater settee is in line looking at TV. Overall nice stay , would stay again.

Bedroom - better than expected, I think we got a free upgrade! Bed and sofa very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. Location was perfect. The church bells was an unexpected added bonus.

The room was a little cold. An electric heater was provided and the central heating didn't seem to be working and as the room was big it didn't really do the job.

No full length mirror or from where the sockets were in the rooms could you see your hair for drying it . It did reach around . Myself and my friends were sat on the floor using out phone cameras. Towel were clean but bleach stains on them no shower wash in bathrooms

Bed far to low and very soft ,bath in bedroom,decoration paint flacking on wall and on ceiling, noise from bar below.Breakfast day one,had to look for cook then given no option only full English ,large or small. Day two also had to look for cook she did not know we were for breakfast although we booked for Two Nights B and B ,But were given a menu.But the breakfast was good.

Nothing the hotel was old and dirty room location not suitable for couples in their 80,s very steep and very wide staircase with very narrow treads and lots of winders in stairs. No toilet paper provided, room damp with wall paper painted dark blue and coming off the walls. We could not get the room door to lock. The on suite bathroom contained a very small shower approximately 600x600mm with a toilet the wash hand basin was in the bedroom with no hand wash facilities. The carpet could not be described and we would not have wanted to walk on it without footware

Nothing the reasons given above Even the car park was rough old and broken surface not suitable for elderly couples The room allocated to us was at the top of the property through several corridors,rooms and sets of stairs on a route that you could get lost in with no direction signs visible We would not recommend this hotel When leaving the room to return to the entrance we encountered a gentleman who said after climbing the stairs “ I need to lie down and rest after that climb

Got locked in the room twice due to the yale lock being faulty this needs sorting ASAP AS IT'S A FIRE HAZARD apart from that it was clean comfortable and the staff were very very freindly and helpful

They were so welcoming, had everything we needed for our stay and even dog friendly so we could take our four legged child with us

A pleasant stay

The location is great and the bar area is nicely decorated and comfortable. The bed was soft and the rooms generally quite. Breakfast was adequate.

No chair in the bedroom, no toilet brush and the blind was insufficient to keep the room dark. I did not like the noise from the bathroom fan in the room next door which was left running by the occupants late into the night. I would have liked some fruit and yougert for breakfast.

Exceptionally clean and smelt fresh

This place is a little gem of a place in this little village. Close to all amenities and not a far drive from the seaside places near by. All the staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. All went above and beyond. The room I stayed in smelt extremely fresh and clean, and the bed was very comfy. Just perfect. I do alot of travelling with work and pleasure and definitely 5 stars from me. Furthermore they went above and beyond to accommodate my dog, of which is a rottweiler. I would highly recommend. I definitely will be returning

The stairs were ridiculously steep. No water pressure in the bathroom. Church clock chimed every 15 minutes.

The size of the room was good

No hot water in the room we had to use a kettle to get a wash, the ensuite shower was in very poor condition loose tiles on surround and with yellow grime we did not want to use it !! No electric sockets near a mirror

Perfect

Hotel was in a great location with plenty of parking spaces. Staff very friendly on arrival and very easy check in. All information in the room in a booklet. Room exceeded our expectations with very modern furnishings / lighting etc. We ate in the pub for our evening meal and again, exceeded both our expectations. Food was fresh, well cooked and good portion sizes. Will return.
