Whale Urban Apartments

The location was excellent. It was near public transport facilities (which were completely free for those over 65 years of age). The place was clean, The bed was comfortable. The shower was powerful and there was plenty of hot water. Gabor was a great host. We needed his help once when the electronic door lock broke down, locking us out. He responded quickly and solved the problem.

The internet never worked for the entire duration of the holiday. The Maverick youth hostel across the road was really useful for internet access and the staff there could not have been more helpful. The kitchen was poorly equipped. There was no toaster and the kettle was so corroded inside that it leaked onto the power dock. There was one electric cooking ring.

There was good communication with the hosts prior to our arrival clarifying the number of beds and they provided clear instructions for gaining entry via multiple codes, which tested us after nights out! The room was clean and tidy with towels provided for all six beds (four bunks), even though we were only using four. The shower was good and it was nice to have a small balcony. The location was also good, a short walk to the river and not too far away from the main city centre. Overall it was much better than the (1 star) Google reviews we had read after booking and was suitable for our needs.

The price was much higher than it would usually be due to the Champions League Final taking place in Budapest when we stayed, but in fairness to the hosts they did honour the booking unlike one we had made for a nearby accomodation on AirBnB who cancelled the booking we had made two months in advance and then immediately relisted it at almost 3x the price (against the cancellation policy). The air conditioning could have been better, but it was not awful.
