Dovedale is in an excellent position in Ambleside. near to shops and public transport. The house is well designed and the facilities are good quality. We liked the utility area and the back yard was a real sun trap in the afternoon. The parking permit was very useful

It was a bit noisy with being in the town rather than just outside it. I've spent holidays in Ambleside for over 30 years and realise that some areas are obviously quieter than others .It was very awkward to unload our luggage since parking is very limited on Compston street. I received a parking ticket for parking near the house on the day before we left .I had put my permit on the dashboard but this was obviously invalid. I have stayed in Compston street twice before and have been able to park outside the property. When I first booked Dovedale it said there was private parking for the property so I assumed there would be no problem parking if there was a space. It was a "Sting in the tail" having to pay £25! There are also - a few maintenance issues which need to be addressed in the property.
