Could’ve been better

We liked that the property seemed new and very resourceful and the appearance at first glance seemed lovely.

When we first arrived, we were given the wrong address on booking.con and were told to drive another 10 minutes to the real location after calling the manager, which when your tired and it’s 11pm, it isn’t ideal. When we first arrived at the property, there was an enormous moth and you could hear its loud bangs on the ceiling as soon as we entered the door and I am every afraid of insects and my partner had to take it out as I was shaking on the floor. WiFi didn’t work till an hour later and wasn’t connecting to our devices at all and there was a lamp on the bedside table with no bulb? The lighting in general was wonderful and powerful, however we would’ve preferred more dim lighting from a lamp. The bed sheets were not clean and that really made me upset seeing how all the other reviews of the place were good. The shower wasn’t working either and it seemed like it was broken. There were stains in the toilet so clearly it hasn’t been cleaned and there was also a large bottle of Coca Cola in the fridge that only had a quarter of it left. We had no other option as it was late hence why we stayed despite these conditions and we used towels to sleep on-top of the bed. It’s upsetting as I was expecting a lot from previous reviews.

I strongly advise against booking this room. Upon arrival, I immediately noticed a thick layer of dust in the room, brown stains on the bedsheets, and green mould around the shower. When I contacted the host, he claimed to have supervised the cleaning himself but simply handed me a new sheet to change myself. There was also only one very old and uncomfortable pillow. The noise levels were unacceptable. I was kept awake until 11:30pm due to loud banging and talking from upstairs—soundproofing is virtually non-existent. Worse, I was woken at 4:30am by extremely loud and inappropriate sexual noises that lasted for over 30 minutes. Despite knocking on the wall to indicate I was awake and disturbed, the noise continued. I believe this came from the property manager living upstairs. After that, there was more loud movement, banging, and door slamming until around 6am. While the host was polite in communication, the experience was extremely distressing. When I raised my concerns about the noise and asked for consideration going forward, I was told it might be best to cancel the rest of my stay. This left me feeling unwelcome and forced to leave, cutting my placement short and leaving me with nowhere to stay. Overall, this was a highly unpleasant experience. I would not recommend this property.

Very Good Value For Little Money

The house is very clean; TV in rooms, and nice lounge with big Tv as well. Kitchen is equipped with all basic things a guest would need: Tea, coffee, sugar, air fryer, microwave, utensils, etc. Kettle and cup in rooms; rooms are very clean. Toilet is very clean as well. Communication with host was superb. If there is any issue, he attends to it promptly. There are shops close by which is very handy. Bust stop is just seconds away--several bus services going to the city centre. Overall, it was good experience for me. I will definitely recommend this. A good value for budget travellers.
