Mellguards, 4-Bed Country Cottage, in Howtown

Location Fantastic. No breakfast.

The windows were so dirty you had trouble seeing the view. Broken caffitiere, tin opener and the out door space was not kept to a good standard, quite a mess really.

We booked this beautiful cottage for our family of 8 - 6 adults and 2 children. The place is exceptionally well-styled and cleaned. We really enjoyed our stay. The property also has sufficient space to park 2 large SUVs. The management is very responsive and got back to us on all our queries / needs. They also very thoughtfully prepared a guide, which is much appreciated. It was truly like a home away from home. The check-in instructions were extremely clear, which really helped because it is a remote location and the internet was indeed a little patchy on the way in (which the management pre-empted). Don't worry, there is reliable Wi-Fi within the house.

Just a small note that hot water is sort of "limited", so we do have to spread out and time our showers for 8 people. However, the management was very helpful in providing solutions and suggestion to better mitigate this, so I would say to reach out to them for any help! I won't say it made the stay worse because it was just a small matter and we worked around it.

Lovely location, great kitchen and dining area with good layout, though the beds are a little small and would be good to have some more outdoor seating near the kitchen.

We love dogs but didn't like all the dog hairs left on the rug and floors. Also the dining table was covered in crumbs and there were dirty dishes and glasses in the cupboards. The staff arranged for the cleaners to return on day 2 of our stay but they still had not vacuumed the dog hairs up properly, and so we did this ourselves. Not what we expected at this level
