The lodge is situated within a rural, peaceful and relaxing private estate, surrounded by fields (and occasionally sheep), and is perfectly positioned to admire the amazing star-lit skies at night - especially with a glass of wine!
The lodge is clean and comfortable with all the mod-cons, plenty of hot water (much appreciated after long country walks!), wifi, plenty of logs for the fire and has parking facilities for a couple of cars.
West Lodge is just on the edge of Barnard Castle with great access to shopping facilities, Bowes museum and is a short drive to neighbouring villages, High and Low Force waterfalls, country pubs and other sight-seeing places of note.
The hosts and the on-site team are all very accommodating, helpful and friendly and made my stay a real pleasure - so I will be back!
