Apartamenty Maj Sokołowsko

The location of the appartment (well, actually it's rather a small room with own small bathroom) is at the main street (ground floor) in the generally rather sleepy village of Sokolowsko. Once it's dark outside, there's barely any traffic, or other noises. Cats and dogs wish each other a good night. Sokolowsko used to be a famous health resort / spa village starting in the mid 19th century. You can still see signs of the past when looking at some of the old buildings. However the village is still quite run down and only slowly waking up again from that sleep of neglection. It's a good place for a stay if you are looking for nature and quiet. But back to the appartment. It's very basic and simple, so it's ok'ish for a few nights (we stayed for two nights). There's not really anything that stood out or is worth mentioning here.

Prior to our arrival we received instructions regarding the location of the room as well as the pin code for the door of the room. So far so good. When we arrived (at around 5:30 pm), the front door of the house was closed, but unlocked (which seemed to be "normal"). In our room we found another key for the main door, which we should take with us in case we go some place in the evening and come back late, because at one point (we are not sure if there's a precise time) the main door will be locked. The house (corridors, staircase) is quite run down and some guests might be shocked about this and it might have an effect on them feeling safe. To us it was ok'ish, but we also knew we'll only stay for two nights. The doors (main door and to our room) were solid and we re-gained some trust). What we didn't like at all was the total lack of communication from the hosts. We had several questions that were completely ignored and remained unanswered. One question was about the possibility to park the car behind the house. We just wanted to make sure that we can leave the car there, because there was also a neighbouring house and several cars. The question wasn't replied to and we simply parked the car in the back, not knowing if this will cause any trouble, maybe with the neighbours. The second unsanswered question was of more importance to us. On arrival we felt that the room was heated up quite a lot (too hot to our liking). Both radiators were quite hot and there was no way to regulate them and turn them down so that we feel more comfortable. We also wrote the host about this and asked for help, but this question was also ignored and remained unanswered. Therefore we had to spend two quite uncomfortable nights (small room, radiators heating up the room very much) in this place. On top of that, the mattress of the bed was way too soft (for our liking). We know there are people who like such mattresses, but they were simply not for us.
