HOUSE AIRPORT Catania

We had an early flight the next day, so this place was perfect. We only had to walk about 10 minutes to get to the airport. The night before, there are a few places to get something to eat, including a Simpsons-themed pizzeria.

There aren't many options for hotels near Catania airport. So if you want to stay near the airport because of an early flight the next day, you can't don't have the luxury of balancing price, comfort, etc. The hotel was decent but very expensive, and I fear other places at lower costs would be dreadful.

De locatie, fijn dichtbij het vliegveld. Ideaal om na een late vlucht te overnachten om de volgende ochtend een auto te huren en door te reizen.

Camera ristrutturata e pulita. Stragegico per chi arriva come noi in tarda serata all'aeroporto di Catania ed è senza auto. Raggiungibile a piedi dall'aeroporto in 15/20 minuti. Appartamento un po' rumoroso perché lungo una strada e per la vicinanza dell'aeroporto. Titolare gentile e disponibile.

Once we got inside the apartment it was fine, and it was adequate for what we wanted (somewhere to sleep before onwards travel). It was clean and quiet and had basic kitchen facilities. Pizzeria "The Simpsons" is just a few minutes walk from the apartment and has good food and beer at low prices. Highly recommended.

The location of the apartment is grim. It's in an industrial area which is quite bleak and scruffy. At night the area was also pretty deserted, which might worry solo travellers. The walk to the apartment from the airport is do-able but is along busy roads with no pavement. Despite several requests, the owner of the apartment didn't supply the access codes to the apartment until 0930 on the morning of our arrival - which was quite stressful. We met the owner as we were leaving and he seemed friendly enough. However, I don't think he speaks any English.
