However, it may not meet foreign travelers’ expectations, especially considering the nightly rate. Rooms are sparsely furnished—only one has a bedside table, and wardrobes aren’t accessible. Some shelving or drawers to store personal items would improve comfort. The listing mentions 2.5 or 4 bathrooms, but there’s one small shower/bath room and two toilets, one without a nearby sink. For two families travelling together, privacy was limited. After bathing, you had to dress inside the wet shower room due to absence of a dry changing area. Towels provided were very small and thin; larger, better-quality towels would be appreciated. The kitchen is compact with basic items but lacks a toaster, butter knives, tea towels, and large bowls. The house was dusty and the gardens overgrown, affecting presentation. Though the back garden isn’t accessible, tidying both would help. Being an old house, it’s creaky and noise travels easily, which may disturb light sleepers. On the positive side, the house is spacious and fit our group of 10 comfortably. It’s a bit far from Kyoto’s main attractions but close to public transport, supermarkets, and restaurants. The quiet neighborhood has narrow streets with fast traffic, so caution is needed. The host was friendly, welcoming, and responded quickly to all questions and requests, which made the stay easier.
