Quiet Lake Almanor Cabin, Close to Fishing

The place was walking distance to a very good restaurant. It was quiet at night and not too crowded.

I had thought we were much closer to the lake than we actually were. Also, several of the windows didn't have screens.

This was a cute little cabin, in a quiet area of the town. It had many kitchen amenities. Space was adequate for the number of guests staying. The rooms were pleasantly if not sparsely furnished - we could have used some hooks to hang up coats, bags, etc. We needed to reach the host about how to lock the cabin and he was very responsive - I feel this could have been included in instructions. For some reason, our Google Maps kept taking us to the Country Club; not sure why but something to keep in mind. This cabin met our needs on a long weekend trip to see the beautiful Lassen Volcano.

The ceilings in the loft area were quite low - my 5' 4" sister could not stand up so not sure if this area is intended for adults. The doors to the bathroom and main room were quite squeaky so maybe a little WD-40 would go a long way in decreasing night time interruptions. The bathroom door was difficult to open and close but by the time we left, we had figured out how to mange it. Surprisingly, or maybe this is a new norm, there were no washcloths or hand towels in the bathroom, so we ended up using one of the bath towels for hands. On our last am, we noticed ants in the shower. The listing states, "steps to fishing" but we had to drive 20 min to find access to the lake, so not sure where this access was. The light above the eating area was not working.

it was very quiet as advertised, although there were few people there in the other cabins. It was neat and tidy the kitchen has a gas range, which is nice. The owner was very helpful at answering any questions. also, the Internet was good, and the television was a good size and had all the streaming channels which was a surprise.

I thought it would be very close to the lake which it is not. There is a construction company across the street which starts to make noise around 7:30 in the morning, but it’s not bad.

Quiet

Location, no access to the lake on that side, all lake property is privately owned and you have to drive 20-25 minutes to the opposite side of the lake to boat, fish and swim. Nor “Steps to the water”. No screens on upstairs windows so no way to run a fan to cool off with all the heat from the day time. Beds were not very comfortable.
