Rifugio del volpacchiotto - Piano Battaglia

This location is phenomenal. We were here during the height of summer, yet the mountains were cool and comfortable. The veranda is perfect place to sit with a beer after a day, and just be a part of the solitude, the peace and the magnificence of the mountain. We arrived and there were a herd of deer in the garden that made us feel welcome. The facilities were fantastic (except for the coffee machine which wasn’t working - please just get a mokka machine there!). Otherwise it truly is beautiful and magical.

The rough path from the car to the property. It adds to the rustic nature of the property but I can see it being a challenge for some unfit people. A pathway of bricks or paving would help massively so that you could role suitcases down and up. We were also able to climb the nearby peak “Pizzo Carbonara” which is very easily accessible from Volpacchiotto!

The mountain house is a perfect retreat to escape civilization. Staying in this house feels like stepping back in time – a romantic wood-burning stove, 1980s-style interior design, and a perfectly secluded location. The owner, Vincenzo, is always available and provides helpful information about both the cabin and the surrounding landscape. I highly recommend it for couples looking for a romantic getaway as well as for groups of friends needing accommodation during mountain hikes
