Bella Vista (Heated Pool & Private Parking)

Wunderschöner Garten mit Tieren und tollem Ausblick über die Insel (schöne Sonnenuntergänge). Sehr gut ausgestattete Küche, geräumige Zimmer. Alles sehr neu, gepflegt und sauber. Gastgeber sind sehr freundlich und jederzeit erreichbar. Parkplatz ist direkt vor dem Haus, allerdings ist die Auffahrt sehr steil.

De ruimte en ligging. Was een heerlijke plek om te verblijven. Had alles wat wij nodig hadden. Je had een eigen tuin die echt een verlengstuk was van het huis.

The villa is excellently located at approximately 580 meters above the coast, with a relatively steep driveway typical for Madeira. It's an ideal starting point for many levada walks. The drive to Funchal, Porto Moniz, and Seixal takes about 30 to 40 minutes. The nearest beach in Calheta is about a 15-minute drive away. The villa is tastefully furnished on two levels with three bathrooms and toilets, although only one of them is actually lockable. There's only one TV in the three bedrooms, plus an additional one in the living room. We were only traveling as a couple, but we imagine it would be complicated for a larger group. The smart TV offers all streaming services with excellent Wi-Fi. The private pool was consistently heated to 28 degrees Celsius and completely private. However, we had to cover it every evening because the villa's high altitude causes significant heat loss at night. A roll-up cover would be very helpful here; otherwise, covering the bed requires two people and is quite cumbersome. All in all, it's a first-class accommodation, but unfortunately, there are a few things that would have made the stay even more enjoyable: A few coat hooks at the entrance would be very helpful for hanging up hiking jackets, etc. The kitchen utensils are inadequate: knives that don't cut, ladles and corkscrews that fall apart, no sealable containers for cheese, sausage, etc., and no colander for cooking pasta. We had to go to a shop and buy the essentials. For someone like us who enjoys cooking, this wasn't ideal. The basic supplies already provided, including salt, pepper, spices, vinegar, oil, and Nespresso capsules for the first three days, were very commendable. Unfortunately, there's only one high-quality Nespresso machine with very specific capsules, which are only available at the single Nespresso shop in a shopping center in Funchal. Capsules for standard Nespresso machines are readily available in any supermarket.

Update: After the landlord read the review, we received a message informing us that we were blocked from future bookings on his premises. The landlord also reprimanded us for not leaving the villa clean after check out. This was neither agreed upon nor expected at a price of €1,800. Due to this incident, we unfortunately have to revise our rating downwards once again. We strongly recommend clarifying with this landlord beforehand how they expect the return of the rented property! Or we would recommend booking somewhere else altogether.
