Nostalgia

We really appreciated the spaciousness of almost all the rooms. As described on booking.com, the apartment includes two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and a large terrace that comfortably accommodates four people. We also enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere—there is no noise in the evenings, only the occasional passerby. The owner, Lina, explained that she lived in this house during her youth, and much of it has been preserved so that it still feels authentic, in a classic Greek style. The only daytime noise comes from the buses that pass by below the apartment, but buses on Skopelos are not very frequent 😊. The village itself is very small, with only a handful of tavernas and restaurants, which gives it a warm, familiar feeling, as if everyone knows each other. Be sure to eat at the taverna just a few steps away from the apartment—it’s excellent!

On the downside, we did encounter many ants. At first, we only noticed them on the terrace, which wasn’t a problem, but later they appeared in the kitchen and bathroom as well. I would strongly recommend the owners address this issue, as it is unpleasant to see ants on fruit or food left in the kitchen. Essentially, no food should be left out anywhere in the house. The bathroom is also very small, more like a hallway, and features something very common in Greek apartments—a shower curtain. This can be quite inconvenient, and at the very least, a new curtain would have made the experience more tolerable. Why don’t Greeks use shower cabins? 😊 We also had an additional charge for the tourist tax. This is not a scam—Greek authorities recently increased the tax from €0.50 to €2 per person, per night. While this information might have been available if we researched in advance, it would have been better if the hosts had informed us beforehand, especially since we were already in communication prior to our arrival. It’s not a large amount, but it was an unpleasant surprise that could have easily been avoided.

The house is comfy and fully equipped. We spent wonderful days!
