Cute and functionsl

Cute little place, well designed. Everything you could need for a night or two. Bed is super comfy, nice to be given milk to make coffee, thank you! Beautiful shower and products.

There was a smell of drains/ sewage when we entered. There are two wasps nests (unsure if active) on the front of the property. The TV is far too high to comfortably watch. There are some things which require a little maintenance e.g. scuffs on the walls and skirting, big screws drilled into the wall behind the bed where there is no headboard.

Very clean comfortable and great location.

This is quite insignificant because the place was beautiful. Because the couch was quite small it could benefit from having something to put your feet up on while watching tv. This is just a suggestion and personal preference.

A great find

Thoughtfully designed, compact (in a good sense) and comfortable. Nice quirky features like the outdoors bath. Matakana itself also had much to offer. We were sorry we had only planned a one night stay on the way north.

Nice place to stay, but …

We have enjoyed our stay at Matakana Luxury Escapes. However, not everything was as “luxury” as it seemed. We have touched base by email with the staff but have never heard back from them. This is why we wont give a five star review. There was definitely room for improvement.

We had a wonderful stay in our cute little villa! Villa 4. We would happily stay here again. Great location, very clean, aesthetically pleasing, and well equipped.

The only minor thing I would suggest is that it would be better to have a larger TV and put it in the bedroom rather than the kitchen area.

One very small thing. I paid for two hours later checkout but still cleaning person showed up at 1020. Shows the communication never got to her.

Stylish and comfortable

Laurence was responsive and easy to deal with. He sent timely, easy-to-follow instructions prior to our stay. Self check-in was a breeze, and the unit was lovely. The black kitchenette looked stylish, and the place was modern, clean and well maintained. The cups and glassware were pretty and added nicely to the feel of the place, rather than being cheaply bought.

A foot stool in the lounge area would be a comfortable touch, but we didn't spend much time there anyway, so it didn't really matter.

Had a lovely stay was perfect for the two of us

Location so handy. Loved the outside bath it was lovely with bubbles and bath salts. Even on a busy road the unit was quiet. Very clean.

Couldn’t get coffee machine to work. And the tv remote back bit over batteries was broken. Thought the nets on ranch slider at entry could be replaced or cleaned.

The outside area was very small and dark and right beside the parked cars so didn’t feel very private. The couch was comfortable, but also very small.

Beautifully kept villa with a responsive host, perfectly placed for exploring Matakana Village

We had a wonderful stay at this lovely villa, perfectly located right next to Matakana Village. All the restaurants, shops, and key attractions are just a short walk /drive away, making it an ideal spot for exploring the area. The property itself is well-kept, clean, and thoughtfully equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. Lawrence, the host, was fantastic—always responsive and quick to assist whenever we needed something, which made our experience even more enjoyable. Overall, this villa is a great choice for a relaxing getaway and the perfect base to enjoy the charm of the beautiful Matakana Village.

Nice unit, but poor living area design

The living area was a bad design/layout to the point of being ridiculous, having a large, well equipped kitchenette for food preparation but nowhere to eat, not even a coffee table. The tv was side on to the lounge, making it uncomftable to watch.

Excellent host and property

What a beautiful property! The bed was extremely comfortable with beautiful and soft linens. Everything we needed was there, soap, shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer, towels for makeup removal, towels for showers and for the beach. Although we did not use the robes they were provided. This place is right in town and easy access to shops, breakfast, dinner and the Matakana Saturday Market which was a lot of fun! Wonderful A+ Host.

The location of these properties is excellent, being able to all easily to restaurants and shops is such a bonus.

The location is excellent, right in the township. The properties (we had 2) unit one and four, were very clean, very good cooking facilities in unit one (would really suit a long stay) and in four all you would need for a short stay. The outdoor fire and baths were a great touch. Bed was comfortable and we loved the linens, pillows and small touches such as bath salts, bubble bath, good quality toiletries. Unit one has a great amount of space.

The price we paid for unit four compared to unit one was way out of line. Unit four is tiny in comparison and we felt should have been quite a bit cheaper than unit one. We were unable to watch the tv in unit four as it kept streaming and we didn’t have good connectivity at all. I just don’t think I’d regard unit four as a luxury apartment.
