When we first arrived, the entrance looked a little different from the photos online, but the moment we stepped inside, we were welcomed into a beautiful home. Everything you could possibly need is there. The living room is spacious, with a lovely covered terrace and a wonderful swimming pool to relax by. The bedrooms are also large and equipped with good air conditioning — perfect after a warm day exploring.
But the most special thing about Rumah Riang is without a doubt the incredible hospitality of Putu, Ria, and their family. From the very beginning, they made us feel completely at home.
Although there’s a well-equipped kitchen, Ria prepares the most delicious Balinese meals — both lunch and dinner. She’s a fantastic cook, and nothing is ever too much for them. Every meal was different and full of authentic local flavors and made with so much love and care.
During our stay, we also joined The Mayong Cultural Walk, which is an absolute must-do! Putu takes you on a fascinating journey through the rice fields of the Mayong Valley, passionately explaining everything that grows there — not just rice, but also durian, palm trees, and the intricate irrigation systems that make Balinese agriculture so special.
His deep knowledge of plants, farming, and local culture is impressive, and the way he shares it — full of humor, energy, and great storytelling — makes the walk both fun and educational. He also loves to connect local words and traditions to other languages and cultures, which we Dutch visitors found especially engaging!
After the walk, we were treated to another delicious homemade lunch prepared by Ria — authentic Balinese flavors at their very best.
We stayed at Rumah Riang for two nights and got a beautiful glimpse into the life of a local Balinese family — full of kindness, warmth, and hospitality. It’s an experience we will never forget.

Un accueil comme à la maison. La gentillesse et l’hospitalité de Putu et Ria.
Très bon emplacement pour rayonner autour de Munduk. Les sites principaux sont accessibles et on est également à moins de 20 minutes de la plage.
Superbe vue depuis la maison.

Von der Villa aus hat man einen wunderschönen Ausblick. Ria und Putu sowie ihre Familie sind super freundliche Gastgeber. Wir haben uns hier sehr wohl gefühlt. Das Haus selber ist mit allem erforderlichen Ausgestattet und war bei unserer Ankunft sauber. Der Pool ist sehr schön gelegen mit wunderbarer Aussicht. Wir würden hier jederzeit wieder buchen.
