Points positifs Ce petit appartement a beaucoup de charme. Le propriétaire a réussi à aménager deux chambres de taille correcte dans un espace réduit, avec une cuisine fonctionnelle et un salon suffisamment spacieux. Il y a des moustiquaires dans toutes les pièces. La propriétaire a été d’une grande gentillesse du début à la fin du séjour. Au-delà des petites attentions à notre arrivée, telles qu’un plateau de fruits frais et de l’eau fraîche dans le elle s’est montrée particulièrement compréhensive lorsque nous avons dû modifier nos plans et écourter notre séjour, ce que nous avons beaucoup apprécié. Son principal atout est sa localisation, au pied du chemin menant au bazar, au château et aux deux maisons historiques les plus connues de Gjirokastër. Il se trouve également à quelques minutes à pied du centre-ville. L’accueil a été très chaleureux, avec de l’eau fraîche dans le réfrigérateur et une corbeille de fruits à notre arrivée (première et seule fois pendant mes 11 jours en Albanie !). La climatisation est présente dans la chambre équipée de deux lits.

La proximité du centre-ville et de la route entraîne des nuisances sonores, notamment liées à la circulation et aux chiens qui aboient la nuit. L’isolation phonique pourrait être améliorée. De plus, les rideaux ne sont pas occultants dans les différentes pièces, ce qui laisse entrer beaucoup de lumière dès le lever du jour. Aucune climatisation dans la chambre au lit double. Par contre, en partant, nous avons constaté qu’il y avait un Airco au sol , dans le salon, qui aurait pu servir de rafraîchissement pendant la nuit (en laissant la porte ouverte entre le salon et la chambre double). La salle de douche est fonctionnelle mais relativement petite, ce qui pourrait être moins pratique pour un séjour à quatre personnes.

The host communicated directions and instructions on accessing the keys. When the property was not to our liking, they facilitated an easy cancellation.

The listing apparently included an apartment and a stand alone room. I didn't realize that I had rented the room alone and was expecting the apartment. The room was dark and the beds were low and the mattresses seemed thin. A designated parking spot was supposed to come with the rental but it was not available and other parking is very hard to come by. The host did not offer help with the parking. The apartment and room are located in a crowded alley which didn't feel particularly inviting or safe. It is not in Old Town and we ended up canceling the reservation.

This place has everything you need: A/C works, a well equipped full kitchen, plenty of space, even a small veranda. Perticularly memorable was the delicious breakfast treat we received from our host's mother who also assisted in establishing ourselves. Also very convenient was to have a reserved parking spot in the neighborhood that is otherwise swamped with cars! All necessary stores and economical restaurants are just all around.

Only be aware that the (touristic) old town is a challenging 15-20 min walk steep uphill and that drinving there is not necessarily trivial. Makes it all the more enjoyable to be a bit away from all the hustling and bustling.

It's a cosy little room with everything you can need for a short stay, the bathroom is great, super clean. Quiet neighbourhood.

The beds were extremely noisy, you can't blink without waking the other person next to you, one of us had to sleep on the floor the second night, There were no top sheets on the beds, you can only hope that they wash the bedspread every time someone leaves, although I doubt it. As in every hotel in Albania you have to pay cash, a nice lady comes to collect the money, she doesn't give you a receipt but this is normal there.
