About this cottage rental

House with patio, located in Ribeira de Sintra, a small and peaceful village 15 minutes by car from the beaches and 25 minutes on foot from the historic center of Sintra and also from the train station where buses leave for Castelo dos Mouros and Palácio da Pena.

On the terrace you can relax to the sound of birds while looking out over the beautiful and leafy mountains. The house is equipped with kitchen equipment and crockery, oven and electric hob, refrigerator, microwave, toaster and Dolce Gusto espresso machine.

A few meters ahead you will find a café and a small grocery store.

1 km away there is a laundromat.

Casa da Rocha is an old farmhouse that has been refurbished and divided into two ground floor apartments. This is the Aptº Red Fruits.
This house is also convenient for those who want to visit Lisbon, which is 30 min away by car or 35 min by train and then come to sleep in a quiet, cooler place with the air of the mountains. You can still take a half-day trip to Cascais, Estoril, Cabo da Roca, Mafra or Ericeira.

Other interesting places that you can visit in a 1-day visit: Peniche, Nazaré, Alcobaça, Óbidos, Batalha, Fátima, Tomar, Setúbal, Palmela, and many others within a radius of 100km.

This is a place with history because it was in this space, in 1836, that was born casually the now so famous Pêra Rocha that owes its name to the then owner, Mr. António Rocha. From here it has spread all over the region of Sintra and then to the West region

All the house: Up to 8 people: 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (in 2 of the bedrooms), living room with sofa bed for 2 people and kitchenette. Backyard Terrace with table, chairs and parasol.

Other things to consider:

The entire property is on the ground floor, no stairs.

Free parking on site.

At 100 and 300 mts away you can take a bus to Sintra or the beaches.

At 1km away you can find a pharmacy, a bakery, a market, a butcher shop, an automatic laundry as well as some local commerce including 5 excellent and not turistic restaurants.

House without stairs and acessible by straight way.

Heating usage fee on request: extra fee of 10€/night

Tourist Tax: 2€/person/night, until the 3rd night, to pay cash at the check-in time.

House Rules:
- It is forbidden to smoke inside the house. There is an ashtray outside the entrance door where smoking is allowed :)

-Check-in is from 5pm to 8pm (5pm to 8pm)
***After that and exceptionally, a schedule must be requested and agreed with the host and there will be a fee of 5/€ per hour of delay (except for flights timetable)

In order not to increase the price of the stay, which could harm those who do not need to use them, we will request a total fee of 10€/day to be paid at check-in, for those who feel the need to use the 2 heaters:)

Check-in between 5 pm and 8 pm. By previously request we'll try to do it in other time but without certanty.

Nice place with plenty of room-short drive to Cintra

I would highly recommend this place. However, if you are traveling in the winter, you should know that there is no central heating and there are only two portable electric radiators to warm the apartment. So, it got pretty cold. There is also know laundry machine, so if you are traveling with kids for a longer stay, that can be problematic. Other than those two things, the place is perfect. So if those are not an issue, then you should 100% try and book this property.

We had a great 5-week stay at Casa da Rocha. The 3BR setup worked well with 2 pre-teen kids and a dog. I particularly enjoyed this part of Sintra which is authentically Portuguese and a bit off the beaten path. We spent a lot of time chatting with locals at the small store/cafe down the road and ate at several great spots that Cristina recommended, all a short drive away. While not too far by car from the train station and more touristy parts of Sintra, the home isn't close enough to those places to walk except if you're planning a multi-hour hike. Cristina was a great host and very responsive when we needed help with appliances, etc.
