About this cabin rental
Overlooking the Ohio River, the Cedar Cabin at the River's Edge offers a peaceful, comfortable, and intimate experience of the Ohio River. With a queen, 2 twins, and another queen in the loft, this would be great for families, hunters, or couples. Dog and cat friendly. Smart TV. Free wi-fi available.
This cozy, rustic, cedar-walled single-room cabin directly overlooks the Ohio River. The bathroom has a shower, sink, and toilet. Outside there is a short path down to the river beach & water (Please note that people have varying experiences with the path to the river -- the path is a little rocky and can be muddy after a rain, but for those without mobility issues it's rarely an issue to reach the river when the weather is good), as well as a large open grassy & landscaped space overlooking the river, with a fire pit, swing set, and flagstone areas with tables. The property also borders a deep creek, with lots of trees. The cabins & yard are mostly separated from the road by the restaurant (no longer open to the public). Two parking spaces available per cabin (please reach out ahead of time should you want more spaces). Locally-sourced coffee provided in the cabin, as well as some instant oatmeal and granola bars. The room is heated/cooled primarily with a mini split unit.
Guests can access the river, beach, and large yard at their leisure (see note re: river path above). There is also a landing spot for boats about four miles south (KH Butler) and a cute little town about a 10-minute drive north. Free onsite parking lot is available. We live in a very rural area, so there are a variety of dwellings and lots of patches of woods around.
We offer a contact-free, COVID-friendly checkin. Very kid friendly. Very pet friendly. Smoking & vaping permitted on cabin deck and outside public areas, but not in cabins please. We provide locally-sourced coffee in the cabin. Smart TV in cabin. Free Wi-Fi.

If you’re looking for a place that rewards you for going a little off course, this is exactly that kind of destination. We weren’t able to arrive until late at night, and while the road there certainly had its fair share of twists and turns, the directions provided by the owners turned the journey into part of the experience. It felt less like navigating and more like a quiet adventure—spotting old landmarks along the way and realizing we were exactly where we were meant to be.
Once we arrived, a solar-lit pathway gently illuminated step by step as we made our way in, creating a welcoming and almost storybook-like entrance that immediately set the tone for our stay.
Our daughter absolutely loved the outdoor setup—especially the swings and bars that gave her a chance to burn off energy before and after our long drive. It was such a thoughtful touch.
Inside, the cabin lived up to every expectation. The bedding and accommodations were perfect, and “cozy” truly is the best word to describe the space. Being pet-friendly with no extra charge was a huge bonus.
Waking up to the view overlooking the Ohio River into West Virginia was something special. It’s the kind of view you wish you had more time to sit with, and we genuinely regretted only staying one night.
We may not know when or why we’ll find ourselves back in Gallipolis, but now we know we have a reason.
Do not hesitate to stay here. Take the extra time, go a little out of your way—you won’t regret it.

Our family really enjoyed our one-night stay at this cabin. It's a cool, unique spot right on the river a few miles away from Gallipolis. Very peaceful. The cabin was clean, beds were comfortable, and it had everything we needed. The host was very helpful and friendly. Also, it was very pet-friendly. We'd definitely stay again next time in the area.

The host was super accommodating to all my questions. And gave good recommendations for things to do. The place was super clean and the water view from the porch was great.
