The home itself had a great layout and plenty of space for our group. The location was peaceful and scenic, and we truly made the most of what the property had to offer. However, our experience with Vacasa was extremely disappointing, and I would not rent through them again without serious improvements to their customer service, responsiveness, and accuracy.
Like other reviewers mentioned, the listing was misleading and left out important details. I was told the nearest beach was 30 minutes away—when there’s actually a shared community beach right at the bottom of the stairs. They also claimed there was no boat docking (there was) and failed to mention the 99 steep, overgrown steps to reach the dock—critical information guests should know.
The listing said “partial AC,” but none of the units worked, the ceiling fans were broken, and nearly all windows were painted shut, missing screens or inoperable, leaving the home hot and stuffy. I reported it and was told there were fans—we found one small fan in a closet. I was told someone would follow up. No one ever did.
Basic amenities were also lacking. “Board games” meant one old game in a closet with cleaning supplies. The “enclosed yard” was just overgrown weeds, the deck had only three chairs (one broken), and the kitchen gear was a mess—flaking nonstick pans, no toaster, and a tiny 4-cup coffee maker for a 14-person house.
Trash bins were full on arrival, despite signs about bears and using a "bear box"—which didn’t exist. I was told trash would be collected. It never was. The main sink handle broke day one, but we didn’t get a follow-up call until the day before checkout.
Most frustrating: the listing said there were queen sofa beds in the living room and basement—there weren’t. Just regular couches. We had to buy two queen air mattresses just to make sure everyone had a place to sleep.
Even getting the Wi-Fi password was a hassle—the links Vacasa sent didn’t work, and we had to reach out directly.
We made the most of our time at the house, but Vacasa’s misleading listing, lack of concern, and failure to follow through ruined our trust in them as a rental agency. Their responses were often dismissive, delayed, or just plain wrong.
