Nerida House Salonikiou Beach

The house is spacious, nice patio for outside meals, big terraces on two floors with nice views of the sea. It is just a couple of minutes from the local beach. There are no shops or restaurants nearby, but we were with a car so that was not a problem.

1) Cold water in the shower. We had hot water only two days. The other days, it was lukewarm at best, and for three or four days it was ice cold. The hot water relies on the rooftop solar panel. While this is probably sufficient in July and August, during our stay in September we had a number of partially or fully cloudy days when solar panel cannot provide enough power to heat the water. There is another water heater in the bathroom itself. Its breaker switch was off. We turned it on, but the water would not heat. When we told this to the host, they told us to urgently shut it down, or there could be a huge problem. So, apparently, there is an electricity hazard in the house. When we complained about the lack of hot water, the host just told us to be patient and wait for the solar panel to collect enough power (which it could not). This was a major disappointment; it is unacceptable that during vacation we have to depend on the sunny days for hot water. The ladies are furious since they could not wash their hair. 2) Each floor had mosquito nets, but only one of them could be properly closed. In the bedroom, we used the rope to keep it in place, but there was still some space for mosquitos to enter (and they gladly did so!) and it was very impractical to do every time we wanted to enjoy the terrace. When we asked the host to fix this, they replied they cannot as they are far away. On some evenings, we had literaly dozens of mosquitos in our rooms. 3) Laundry machine was listed on Booking.com, but it was out of order. The machine had a printed sign: "DO NOT USE. WASHING MACHINE NOT WORKING". Apparently, it has been out of order for a long time. 4) A number of utensils were missing, such as, microwave oven (also listed in Booking.com), soup plates, among others. 5) Hosts. There was nobody to meet us on our arrival. The check in was not a problem, since the keys were in the pad lock.
