Vaal Haven - riverside getaway

We appreciated that if we needed anything, like somee fire wood for a wood fire, it was prepared and broufght to us without hesitation, by Ishmail. Close access to the property made unpacking and repacking nice and easy. Close access to the river made the experience incredible. The braai stand needs a little work, as the pins for the grid is too high, no level of height for a proper braai, to raise or drop the braai grid, we used bricks to build the height to help our situation. The thatch umbrella next to the braai could be higher, we are tall people so we kept bumping our heaads on the thatch frame. :(

Location, cleanliness and privacy

Single bathroom

I liked the fact that this property was on the water making fishing throughout the night good whilst being close to your family and has a big grass area for my son to kick his ball around. Shopping mall not too far away if you need to stock up on groceries or if if you want to get takeaways. There was lighting outside in the evenings also.

The pool was green. When the power went out, there wasn't a gas stove for meals which forces you to make a fire taking up time or forced to go out and get takeaways. Couches are old and very small and uncomfortable as they have wooden dividers in between the seats making it a bit uncomfortable if you are on the bigger side. The curtains, beds and bedding was outdated and could be replaced with more appealing bedding and curtains or blinds. Clothing cupboards were old and could do with updating. The place could do with a paint and also the mosquito zapper outside was not working so mozzie bites are a garuantee. Trellidor safety gate could not lock leaving you with relying on the sliding door lock which is a bit unsettling.

Location and privacy was excellent

What was really a problem was the bugs and cockroaches falling from the thatch continuously, on your head, onto the beds, into your food, in your bed and between the sheets. They were just all over the place inside the premises. Thus made our stay very unpleasant.
