Die Wohnung war im oberen Stock, eine steile Treppe hoch, aber ganz nett und ruhig. Wir waren mitten im historischen Altstadtteil und das Ambiente war einmalig. Die Restaurants in der Nähe boten vorzügliches Essen.

It is on the 3rd piani (4th floor for Americans) of an old building in the old town of Bordighera, allowing for slight sun and some breezes to enter the apartment. The bathroom with shower was located right off the entrance foyer, keeping the humidity away from the bedroom. It’s comfortable and large enough for 2 couples for a short trip as there are A/C units in both the bedroom and the LR where there is a futon-styled fold-out bed. (Not sure if the futon-styled bed is comfortable, however.)
The washing machine, dishwasher, tea kettle, toaster, coffee maker and microwave were new and clean. The whole kitchen is new and well-appointed. The iron and ironing board were also clean and in good repair. The bathroom fixtures were very nice, including the spray bidet next to the toilet instead of a bidet.
The mattress was not too soft and there was enough space to walk around the bed, hang up some clothes and sit in a chair to put on one’s socks. The bedside light and electrical outlet are convenient.
The best thing about the apartment is that it is located in the center of the old town near all of the good restaurants and easy proximity to the Public parking lot, which is near the park at the end of the Lungomare walking path.
I’m all about efficiency but contactless check-in has some limitations. It was difficult to check in while traveling on public transport (SIM cards; unreliable WiFis). The confirmation on Booking.com showed I had reserved Bordiland 1. The apartment I was given was Bordiland 2, which it turned out, did not have a Balcony. It felt a bit like a bait and switch because the photo on my confirmation showed an outdoor balcony space. It’s true that the fine print did not list outdoor balcony space but in my experience with Booking.com, usually the confirmation photos show exactly the room one is getting. My confirmation form did not have a listing of multiple photos, just a word list of what was included, including “free toiletries.”
For a 3 night stay, we were given exactly 4 coffee pods, 2 washing machine pods and 2 dishwasher pods, dishwashing detergent at the kitchen sink, 2 bottles of shampoo but no hand soap for the bathroom. Maybe not a big deal but it was a bit odd. I asked about hand soap but got no response (was it because it was Friday afternoon?).
For the SAFETY of others, I have to point out that the Bordiland 1, 2 and 3 are in one building which DOES NOT have an elevator. The stair case in this old building has some very shallow and steep stairs. I was fine carrying my luggage up to the very top (Bordiland 2) but not before the light turned off before I reached the top. The next time, I hit the light switches to renew the timer as I was going up at each apartment, to keep the light on in the stairwell for the time that was required to get my key out and open the door.
