* Rental agreement and ID verification are required.
* Pet Policy: Pets must be reported prior to arrival. $50/pet per stay (max 2 dogs). Unreported pets will incur a $150 fee.
* Starter Set of Supplies: We provide an initial supply of toilet paper and paper towels. Guests are responsible for replenishing as needed.

We stayed a week in the Shagbark Cabin April 18-25, 2026 and the VRBO listing descriptions and photos do not do the property justice. This lodging exceeded our expectations. The cabin is situated on 30-40 acres of older growth forest, similar to the Shawnee National Forest area. There are well marked hiking trails right there on the property. The cabin was equipped with everything you would need and more, including a washer/dryer ensemble. Everything was spotless clean and the beds are super comfy. We daily saw deer and their nursing fawns, pileated woodpeckers and a red martin. We highly recommend this property and have already booked a return week in October, 2026.

The cabin had everything we needed! It was cozy and clean. I loved all the Illinois-themed decor and little touches. We did not have our kids with us but we would love to come back in the summer and bring our kiddos! The loft area was cute and I know they would love the hot tub and fire pit area.
