It is hard to imagine how the hotel could have been better for what we wanted. It is located in a very fun, interesting and central part of the city, in a safe and walkable (an issue apparently in parts of Sao Paulo) arts, restaurant and nightlife area, yet even on a night after Brazil won a world cup game, the room was quiet and our sleep was undisturbed. Amanda, Bella (mother and daughter who run the hotel) and Marcio who is also on hand, were perfect, friendly, incredibly helpful and informative hosts who made sure that our needs and wants were thoroughly met. It felt more like visiting and staying with friends than in a hotel, but friends who were very respectful of our independence as people wanting to discover the city on our own. The public area / lounge of the hotel was very comfortable, overlooking a very pretty street with a lot of great street art. The hotel itself is filled with fun, quirky and interesting art mostly by local artists. The breakfast was great, an excellent variety of things to choose from and of high quality. The room itself was very comfortable and everything in it worked very well from the shower to the wifi. Also, the room was well equipped with electrical adapters. That might not seem like a big deal, but Brazil uses a different plug than most other countries. I tend to travel with adapters, but it is very nice to know that if you forget them or don't have the right one, you are covered. Sao Paulo is a huge sprawling city that has bad traffic. But the location is central enough, and close enough to two different metro (subway) lines, as well as good street routes in and out of the area (Uber works very well in the city,) that getting to and from a lot of what we wanted to see and do in the city was easy. In general we loved Sao Paulo and felt like we didn't have enough time there to really get to know the city.

NONE OF THESE THINGS BOTHERED US. I need to think hard to even come up with things that other travelers might not like. But in the interest of giving people reading this a clear picture - and giving my glowing review of the hotel some more credibility - here are a few things that some of you reading this might not like. (Also, we didn't see any of the other rooms in the hotel, so these things might not be true in other rooms.) We were in room 2 which is at street level. The room had very limited natural light. If you are the type of person who wants to spend a lot of time in your hotel room on a trip, or needs to, you might not like that. We tend to spend very little time in our room, so for us it is not a problem. (The upstairs public area of the hotel does have a lot of natural light and very comfortable places to sit and read or whatever else you might want to do.) There isn't really a good work space in the room, so if you need that for, say, a business trip where you need your hotel room to double as an office, same problem. Although if you don't mind working in a public area, again, there is the upstairs lounge area. We live in Bogota, Colombia where we have the same issue with plumbing that exists in a lot of countries, so we are used to it but it might make some of the people I know from, say, western Europe and the U.S. uncomfortable; you are not supposed to simply throw used toilet paper into the toilet and flush it. Pipes are narrow and easily clogged. There is a covered waste paper can next to the toilet. No big deal for us but I have heard some people I know grumble about that when they come here to Colombia. There is, however, a bidet - water sprayer - next to the toilet, which frankly I prefer anyhow. The area is a busy nightlife district and the actions spills onto the streets with a variety of fairly loud music, people drinking, smoking various substances, etc. For us, that was part of the fun of the location.
