Moon House

We had a fantastic stay at Moonhouse! The house was clean, spacious and comfortable, with a fantastic outdoor area that we really enjoyed. The location was excellent, an easy walk to the Snow Centre and very convenient for exploring Queenstown. Andrew was a wonderful host, extremely helpful, friendly and responsive, with great communication. We absolutely loved our time here and would happily stay at Moonhouse again. Highly recommended!

I liked everything about our stay at Moonhouse. There was nothing we did not like.

The property had almost everything we needed - good kitchen and bathroom facilities, spacious living and dining area, plenty of heaters, and an incredible mountain view from all bedrooms. Andrew sent us the entry information very well in advance so we were ready to check in as soon as we landed. The place is perfectly located - central, but not in a noisy area, close to the main shopping street and 4 Square for groceries. It was not listed, but there is a hairdryer included in the facilities.

Unfortunately, the washing machine was not working while we were there - this wouldn't be an issue normally as we would've just prepared to take everything to a laundromat, but we weren't notified of this issue in advance. To his credit, Andrew did offer that we use the washing machine in the accommodation downstairs, but we're not sure if this was a genuine offer as he didn't send us the entry code for ~2 days until 1 hour before our checkout time. We had also found the barbecue outside was not cleaned since its previous use, but this was really a minor issue.

It had a lovely view! Was so beautiful from both decks and all bedrooms. The host was very responsive.

It wasn’t cleaned thoroughly and there was lots of build up of dust and grime on skirting boards and along floor and wall cornices throughout. I also didn’t like that it advertised a working laundry but the washing machine was broken - we had to enter the downstairs peoples unit to access a washing machine which was inconvenient.

The location was good.

The house is advertised as detached with sole occupancy. But there are people living in the basement. The bathroom had obviously been done up in recent times. But not very well. The shower head was held in place by some bandaid. And the toilet roll holder fell off. The towel rail was... challenged. The kitchen was sadly an original 60's... No rangehood/extractor, and glasses & cups stored above the stove. Needless to say they were sticky and greasy. Had to wash any plates before use (Greasy and sticky, maybe due to the lack of dishwasher, or dish liquid). The garden was a bit over grown. Making it annoying to squeeze past to get to the main deck. Luckily it as summer, so the gaps in the front door meant extra ventilation rather than a cold wind. The bed in the third bedroom was basically unusable. if you like sleeping on the floor it would be great. But it literally was as hard as a piece of plywood. The sofa bed was more comfortable, which considering they have a bar across the middle of them takes some doing. And someone obviously uses the driveway as parking during the week... On the morning we went to leave, I had to ring the property to get a car moved that was parked behind us, blocking us in.
