Lovely Charmouth cottage with log fire & garden close to beach

This is the third time we have stayed at this property. Each time we enjoy it even more. Charmouth is quaint and easy to explore and navigate. There is lots to do. My son and husband had pladdle board lessons from Esther. There is fossiling on the beach, a little museum, one fast food shop, and a little cafe, a few pubs. We have walked over to Lyme using the footpath and over Golden Cap to Seatown. We particularly like the little guide pamphlet that takes you on a tour of the town and provided historical information. Off road parking is provided. The cottage is very cosy, and has lots of home comforts. Plenty of space, with a garden. Good communication. We will be staying again.

Honestly, there is nothing about the property we don't like. In terms of location, it is on a hill, but we love hills.

The cottage was perfectly located in walking or driving distance of the beach. It was spacious throughout with comfortable beds and huge sofa in the living room. Towels, washing liquid, loo rolls etc were all provided. Our host kindly arranged an off street parking spot as the street was busy.

We haven’t stayed anywhere with so many personal items around and cupboards full of it which felt a bit odd - but shows it’s not a company letting. I hadn’t noted there wasn’t a dishwasher which was a surprise but my bad. I’d only suggest a cafetière and more good sized glasses. We would happily stay again - these are small observations and not a deal breaker at all.

Location was good close to the centre of the village. The kitchen/dining area was lovely with a door leading into a small garden. The beds were comfortable and bedrooms were quite big. We liked having a separate shower room downstairs.

Parking was difficult. It was not possible to park on the street outside the house. The crockery/cutlery/equipment was mixed and it would have been difficult to cook for 5 or 6 people with what there was. We could have used another couple of towels. The shower wasn't very clean.

It’s a large house on the High Street with an enclosed rear garden. Easy walking distance to the beech. Various eateries nearby including the Nisa shop & Pharmacy.

There were far too many personal items in the house. It felt like the owner had just popped out to the shops. Decor was tired as was the downstairs shower room. The upstairs basin clearly leaked into the kitchen below, there was brown stains on the ceiling and we noticed a few drops of water during one morning. The shower heads in both bathrooms need deferring as does the kettle. The kitchen heating was inadequate and being at the rear of the house didn’t catch much sun.
