Heating a tiny room with a hairdryer

(I correct: The location is good if you want to stay close to the main station)
To be fair: With a working heater, I might have given 3-4/10... more I cannot. You get a better deal at a BnB or Best Western Plus for a very similar price.
Update: After my review which was 1/10 I was insulted by the owner as "a man of bad character". They never apologized.
I agree with the owner that I rated the location too low. It is close to the main station. So if that matters to you the location is ok. The neighbourhood itself however is not particularly nice.
But I had an tiny unheated room. I think it is understandable that I was upset and therefore give low rating. To on top insult me is a total no-go.
I would have dropped it all, but after the insult I reported the property to Booking!

Location only good if you want to be close to the main station.
The style is personal. I did not like it. It is intended to look fancy, but very cheap. ...In general: The rooms are very well photographed and do not represent the true picture... at least not of the room I stayed in.
The room is very very small. I had no real room to unpack my suitcase. I had to put it on the bed or clear a tiny table for it.
The toilet is 1.5 m away from the bed.
No staff on site.
Most importantly: Heating did NOT work. Had to heat with the hairdryer. The owners claim that I did not find the valve.
That is not true. I found it also because it is clearly marked on the heater that it is below the heater. To reach it you need to push away the bed and then bend down. I tried both directions and even tried to carefully knock on the heater to see whether the valve is stuck. It did definitely not work.

THIS IS NOT A HOTEL. This type of establishment should have a different name. There's no reception, no daily room service, no luggage storage, no elevator, and not even the heating on when you arrive (in winter). Because it's not a hotel. The only thing it has in common with a hotel is the price. The choice is yours.

Wonderful stay in Cologne
We had a wonderful stay. We were fortunate enough to get room 6, Josephine, and it was great. It is up few flights of stairs but definitely worth the effort. The room is clean, quiet and beautifully decorated. The bathroom is spacious, fully equipped with a shower, bathtub and sauna. The hosts were always available to promptly assist us with any questions. The hotel is located close to restaurants, the Cathedral and bars. Overall we had a very memorable stay and would definitely stay again when in Cologne.

The single deluxe room should never be legal. The most disgusting place i stayed.
The location was nice.
There was no elevator. The listing mentioned a private bathroom and shower, but they were actually inside the same room as the bed, meaning you end up breathing in the air from the toilet and shower area. The shower curtain was yellowed and had visible mold on it, which felt unhygienic. When I opened the window, there were strange noises at night, and at one point, someone seemed to be climbing around the emergency stairs, so I had to close it. Overall, it was uncomfortable, unsafe, and I did not receive any refund.

Nice stay
Very close to center and restaurants are a few minutes walk away. Stylish furnishings, with a small fridge and a kettle. Nice toiletries. Good wifi. Complimentary coffee at the entrance.
The hotel is close to a metro line, which is a plus but you hear every train passing by a few times in a minute.The bathroom is separated with a thick curtain which we did not like.

Pleasant, but I wish we had stayed in an apartment or a proper hotel with hotel facilities
- Excellent location, close to the central train station, cathedral, museums etc
- The size of the room was great
- The staff were very friendly and responsive when I had a few questions
- The bed was a big double and very comfortable
- The Nespresso coffee stand in the hall was great
- The Rituals toiletries
- The decor is nicer than boring bland hotels
- There is a room that looks like it has a bath and a sauna which I wish we had. I only saw it on the hotel leaflet, but that's the kind of room you need when you come back after a long day walking.
-The bathroom curtain, while perhaps acceptable for a solo traveler, provides inadequate privacy for two people. This was a significant drawback and would have been a deciding factor had we been aware of it beforehand.
- It was basically like staying in an apartment, but without the comfort of a kitchen, extra space etc. We opted for a hotel because we wanted the hotel experience, but in fact, it was like staying in a tiny studio without the kitchen. No reception, no staff, just a key code and get on with it. Alexander was very friendly and polite when I did contact him, but I was too embarrassed to ask about small things like "did housekeeping forget to put shower gel or are we supposed to use the hand soap as shower gel", and "might you have a spare charger as we assumed there will be USB plugs so only had one charger between us". I was mortified when I sent him Whatsapp messages asking about the remote that wasn't working at all, but then it decided to start working as we were messaging, so I didn't want to bother him after that with mundane things
- Lighting: The lighting, particularly in the bathroom/bedroom, was too dim for practical tasks like applying makeup.
- The room was very warm, we kept the windows open which meant putting up with outside noise.
- The plants and decorative items on the window sill are nice, but made it difficult to open and close windows and blinds.
- The multiple flights of stairs are steep and would be challenging for anyone with mobility issues or heavy luggage.
- The wardrobe is visually interesting but impractical. It offers minimal space for folded clothes, has too few hangers, and its narrow depth forces clothes to crumple when the door is closed.
- The shower stall is functional but exceptionally compact.
- The automated room lock is disruptively loud, emitting a jarring, mechanical sound.

Small and cozy hotel in a very central location and close transport
Overall a very nice and cozy hotel 10 minute walk from the very center of Cologne (about two blocks from the cathedral) and still in a very quiet area, right above the Appelhofplatz tram station. Easy entry with own code and a lovely interior design. Gives off vibes of kind of an AirBnB and Hotel mix.
Additional things I liked:
- The small drinks/amenities "counter/bar" on the first floor with water and coffee is a suuuper nice touch.
- The hotel staff are very quick to respond by phone and/or via Whatsapp.
Since the hotel building itself is very small/narrow and doesn't have an elevator, the stairwell inside of it is small and narrow as well. I wasn't there with any massive luggage, but carrying a big and heavy bag up any further than the second floor would require significant hand/grip strength.
There is some issue with air pressure/ventilation in the main stairwell of the building. During my stay I noticed that every time the building entrance is used the door of my room would make a loud noise as if adjusting to the pressure change in the stairwell. This is an issue when people use the main door middle of the night and I would wake up since the door is not far from the bed.
There was no AC, which in itself is not bad, but staying during the summer may sometimes mean it gets quite hot inside. However the quiet location allows to keep the windows open without too much noise.
Some of the rooms have the bathroom part of the same room which is not a big deal if you are staying alone, but if you are staying with another person there may be a case of too much information :)

Bed was comfy. Alexander was friendly and nice and easy to get hold of. Location is great - really close to town centre and main train station. Shower was really good! Great toiletries.
The timing of our trip coincided with a gaming convention that meant we paid a crazy price - although everything is Cologne was expensive on that date. Also - I was staying with my son so the bathroom arrangements were a little bit awkward - but the curtain really helped!! This seems like it would be definitely more of a couples’ hotel.

Fancy hotel, but be aware: no door to the bathroom!!
The hotelrom had a nice design and looked classy. It was also very clean. The hotel was situated in the middle of the city center with a short walk to all attractions and restaurants.
Staying in the room with a colleague it was a big minus that there was NO DOOR to the bathroom, only a curtain. Also there was only one duvé for 2 persons/ colleagues, not practical at all. And last there was no reception or elevator, only a lot of stairs to carry your heavy luggage up to the room.

Owner Ashish is very warm and kind. He helped us carry our big luggage up the stairs. Room is spacious and clean. Very happy to enjoy nice cup of coffee at coffee counter outside the room (1st floor). Location very good. Walkable to main attractions (15-30mins) like cathedral, centraal station…Big supermarket a block away. Location is very quiet. Would stay again should we revisit Cologne. Would recommend. Generally good to stay if you need some place to sleep, but not the best as a plae to work
Very clean, works fine as self-check-in, good area. I have a few concerns, which I mention honestly, but even with them it is a good place to stay for one or two nights if you need just to have rest and you don't need to use it as a temporary office. While WiFi was great
Generally I prefer less old-fashioned style, I am a fan of hi-tech, but it is not the most important part.
Somehow I have missed that there is not any elevator, so it was a bit inconvenient to go up with a heavy suitcase.
Also the idea to have the lavatory actually INSIDE the room is quite questionable: you can easily cover it from windows, and sometimes you have some smells you can't close the door to the toilet as it literally a part of your room.
Additionally the table is a construction which you need to make bigger yourself but in this state it doesn't look like a stable one. I was scared to put my extra big and heavy laptop and even put my arms on the table, working.

There was no wall between the toilet and the bedroom, only a flimsy Spanish Wall. So the toilet was in the bedroom. This is misrepresented in the description and also not evident from the pictures. Never seen this before in all my travels.

Sehr gutes Zimmer mitten in Köln
Sehr schön eingerichtetes Zimmer, nicht nur die Optik sondern auch der Zustand (sauber, stabil, bequem, gutes Bett etc.). Self-Checkin wurde rechtzeitig vorher beschrieben und funktionierte reibungslos (Zugang mit Zahlencode einfach, und nicht drei schwindlige Schlüsselsafes und verschiedene Codes für Haus- und Zimmertür). Kommunikation der Eigentümer war nett, hilfreich und proaktiv, das ist mir gerade bei einem Zimmer mit Self-Checkin positiv aufgefallen.

Prima accomodatie
Prima locatie. Alles op loopafstand. B&B werkt prima met een deurcode. Auto geparkeerd in de parkeergarage die echt betaalbaar was en schuin tegenover de B&B ligt.
Heel dicht bij winkels, supermarkt, eettentjes en DM.
B&B had veel faciliteiten, was schoon, fijn bed, heerlijke sauna, bad en douche. Een klein minpuntje, een rookmelder in de la van de kast leggen vinden wij niet kunnen. Helemaal omdat de B&B in een oud pand en wij op de bovenste verdieping zaten. Verder echt prima voor een kort verblijf in Köln. Ontbijt wordt dus niet geserveerd in de B&B, maar er zitten heel veel eettentjes in de buurt.
Niks eigenlijk, alleen niet boeken wanneer je slecht ter been bent.

Het ontbreken van een afgesloten douche/wc ruimte beviel ons het minste. Het afsluiten van de ruimte met een gordijn en scherm voldoet niet aan het weghouden van toilet geuren.

Knuffig eingerichtetes Hotelzimmer mit Code zu begehen. Hat prima geklappt und die Vermieter haben immer auf Fragen geantwortet. Wir haben nichts vermisst.
Hmmm 16 Grad im Zimmer bei Ankunft ist schon kalt. Und der Heizkörper sehr klein, also erst nach 2-3 Tagen gerade mal 20 Grad. Sparen und alles ausschalten ist ja schön aber macht das Sinn soweit runter kühlen zu lassen.........
