The bungalow is exactly the same as shown in the pictures. No complaints to the room facilities, the jacuzzi was ready to dive in once we arrived. The rooms and bedding are all clean and comfortable. My teenage daughter wanted to stay in her room "forever"
The upstair room was great for the kids to watch cartoons on Netflix, so relaxing and felt like a home theatre.
The outdoor was amazing. Everyone from 2 years old to 40+ got their own favorite.
The staff were nice and helpful and went far beyond to help with all our enquiries and requests.
I was a little bit concerned by the online comments before I came.
It turns out this is the best holiday experience the two families ever had.
Just in case people may think this is because we booked the bungalow, we also booked a lodge which was fine. Of course you can't compare it to the bungalow but nothing like any other online bad reviews appeared in the lodge
Highly recommended as it worths the money
Only two tiny little things
1) one of the heater in the lodge may not be warm enough if the weather is much colder. But it was fine to us. The one in another room was fine and warmer
2) a car had been parked at the parking space of our lodge for the whole 3D2N which made my brother-in-law need to park a little bit further. It is not very far away from their lodge but the fact that they've got 3 kids, aged 2,3 and 7 causing their car blocking the road whenever they had to get in and out of their cars and unload/load their luggage.
My in-law suggested that the site should register car registration plate, so when customer calls with this issue, they can call the car owner to move the car back to their own parking space

We loved the position looking across to the wood and play area. The children enjoyed the proximity of that. The hot tub was also well kept and enjoyable.
The property was lovely and warm.
The swimming pool was too cold to enjoy properly. The children were looking forward to swimming but unfortunately they didn’t want a second swim.

Booked a hot tub lodge and drove 3 hours to be given a lodge without one. 2 autistic children extremely upset. This was the only reason for booking, Generally dirty and tired room such a disappointment. Reception did not care in the slightest.
Absolutely filthy windows, aged furniture and piles of cigarettes outside

Loved the location peaceful and quiet staff excellent went above and beyond
Everything was good until departure day and we stripped the beds, pillows and duvets were disgusting full of stains, one of the beds had a number of disgusting stains on mattress and no mattress protector, had I found it earlier we would not have stayed and slept in those disgusting beds, also would be good to have mattress inside shower as it was very slippy.

We couldn't stay it was too dangerous for our toddler. The fire guard wasn't good it was just a safety gate where she kept trying to get though and could touch the sides of the fire. She pushed the bars as toddlers do and the gate opened. She could have burnt herself on the log burner. The oil radiators was dangerous too just been plug in one's. . We had to leave after 2hrs. Fear of her burning herself.

Location and hot tub was great
Smelled damp and musty the log burner seal needed redoing as the logs burnt at a fast rate not enough cooking eqpt. The bed was not comfy and quilt cover did not cover you when you turned over
Shower was hot and bathroom clean
Settees were too small and table to big for living room
The hot tub light was broken and to walk to it around the side it was very slippy and dangerous the hot tub was the best thing

Tv signal not too good. Glitched often.

The accommodation was clean and well presented. Friendly staff. Lots of free parking on site. Great location and only a stones through from a local scenic country park. Great hot tub, once the staff were called to bring an external gas heater to bring it up to temperature.
The accommodation had all required amenities apart from a hairdryer.
We stayed during January and to be honest I think this accommodation would be much more enjoyable during the warmer months of the year. We stayed in a two bed cabin both rooms had small electric heaters which we ran all the time we were there. The only means to heat the main living room and kitchen was via a wood log burner, no heating in the bathroom, the venue does sell logs but it cost £20 for a starter kit which consisted of one bag of logs, a bag of smaller bit of wood, one box a matches and some fire lighters, this nearly lasted one night so it was quite costly to keep the place warm. The bathroom was freezing.
There is a small swimming pool on site but this comes at an extra charge. It also looked a bit tired and could do with modernising.

Cosy lodge that was lovely and warm, everything you needed in kitchen
Lovely location and woodland setting
Great walks and attractions near by for the family
Just missing toiletries in the bathroom but wasn't a real issue as we brought our own
Clean but some areas are a little tired in the lodge like blinds stained and wood work damaged maybe as pet friendly?
A bit confusing when you book on here as your unsure which lodge you will get and not all have hot tubs
Pool was a little on the cold side especially with a toddler but the booking system was great as only 1 other family in so lots of room

Beautiful location with good facilities on site. The Lodge was really nice and clean and the christmas lights and grotto were a lovely touch. Overall a really nice break and would recommend.
The sofas were uncomfortable but not a big issue and the tv in the bedroom didn't have a remote (was too high to switch on using the buttons on device).
The pot holes were horrendous in some places and would've been nice to have some shelter over/around hot tub for towels/shoes etc due to the weather.

The privacy of the cabin was good. They're not too close and we didnt hear any one else in the nearby cabins. Room was clean and ready for us on arrival. Towels and basics provided. The animal corner was good but the animals looked sad
It was good that you're provided with kitchenware and cooking facilities but there was only one pan and no pots so cooking was difficult as u could only really cook one thing at a time. Also the tvs were placed poorly, the one in the bedroom was so high the picture was unwatchable from the angle of the bed and the one in the lounge was right behind the front door, we arrived in the evening so I couldn't see when opening the door and it could of easily been broken, other than little bits like that it was a good stay

We stayed in lodge 20 - amazing hot tub, lots of space to yourself and it’s private due to it being in a sheltered outdoor area
Big smart tv and fridge also near hot tub so you can truly relax. Make sure you have a phone to hot spot to to use the smart TV features - we’re on EE and had no issues with signal
Beautiful and peaceful area, didn’t hear anyone else during our stay
Small animal area, sheep are very friendly
Would happily return and would like to see all the other personalised lodges!
Unfortunately the outdoor area had a few leaks - one directly onto the outdoor day bed making it pretty much unusable
The bed and sofa are a bit solid and uncomfortable for our liking
Make sure you bring oil, salt, hand soap etc - had a few satches of coffee, sugar, loo roll. But you need to bring everything else (we did thankfully just to highlight to others!)

The location was the only nice part.
On arrival the receptionist wasnt very welcoming, had tried calling numerous times before our stay as I wanted to know about booking activities no one ever bothers to answer the phone. Upon arrival we discovered the 'activities' were shockingly bad, tennis or badminton and that was it. Really poor activity centre, the swimming pool is tiny and cold.

I booked this getaway for my boyfriend’s birthday back in June. We have been very excited about this little trip and it did not disappoint! The cabins were located in a quiet and rural area which was perfect for a private getaway. The facilities absolutely wowed us. The hot tub space was huge and inviting, it was all decorated so nicely and it was great to have that privacy when using the hot tub. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed for a great stay. We visited Rufford country park twice during our stay and it was a perfect spot for a morning walk with lots to do. The staff at the retreat were very accommodating and answered any questions we had. We also visited the Plough Inn which was a six minute drive away, we watched the football there and it was a great atmosphere. Overall, my partner and I are definitely going to be coming back to this retreat. It had everything and more, and as two outdoorsy people, we couldn’t get enough of it.
There was nothing to dislike.

The Kitchen was fully stocked with everything we could need including all manner of utensils and even wine glasses. The maintenance man who came to fix all the various issues was very apologetic and kind.
Upon arrival we had to wait around 20 minutes for the receptionist to show up to check us in, of which there was no apology offered for us having to wait.
After arriving at the lodge we discovered the following issues:
The latch on the porch gate was broken
One of the Sofa seats was broken
The toilet was constantly draining water
The bathroom extractor didn't work
There was a substantial crack in the bathroom window
The showerhead was so heavy it wouldn't stay in the holder meaning you had to hand hold it to shower
While not an issue with the lodge itself we did also notice a large amount of construction work taking place right next to our lodge meaning all we could hear all afternoon was large construction vehicles moving around, this was not mentioned to us anywhere.
I rang reception twice upon discovering the issues and got no answer so I walked to the reception that evening to report the faults only to find reception was closed without any other information as to why, this was within the opening times for reception as detailed in their welcome booklet.
So I reported the issues the following morning to reception and did mention that we'd only be there for one more night so they could fix the issues after we'd left however that afternoon the maintenance staff arrived to fix all the issues.
He had decided to swap the sofa in our lodge with one from a vacant lodge next door and upon removing the sofa units it became clear the cleaners didn't bother to clean under or behind the units as the carpet and wall cladding were filthy with chunks of debris all over the place. After about two hours of our afternoon being taken up with the maintenance man fixing the various issues the resort then encountered a powercut before they could vacuum the floor with all the rubbish and test the new extractor fan.

Beautiful setting, lovely hot-tub. I cannot emphasise enough how beautiful the location is.
It was clean but there was a smell - it had needed to be aired. Just bad luck I think.

Enjoyed celebrating our 10 year anniversary with you. Loved the location of our lodge, very private compared to the other lodges around. Loved the log burner also.
It could do with a shower to make it easier to rinse down after being in the hot tub.
Some noisy neighbours who were blaring music and shouting gone midnight.

Location was great. Lovely grounds. Lodge was spacious. Had dishwasher and Freezer. Beds were comfortable
Sofa was broke. Swimming pool was dated. Large limescale pieces All around and scum marks were visible
Would have expected more for my money.
Also had to prebook pool session. We were allowed an hour because it was empty.

I loved everything. If I could afford to stay longer right now we would. We are very sad to leave. Maintenance guy is lovely. He fixed my TV so I could watch the euros in the hot tub (bless him( he thrn noticed a door needed some work to help keep my son safe. This is just grand. Well done. We swan in the indoor pool everyday and walked around the woods. We explores sherwood forest, rufford Abbey, clumber park and markets close by. Amazing!
Internet needs a little work. But this would help personally at evening for my little one who's got autism. But we did not come for Internet.

There was nothing we didn’t like to be honest apart from me booking the cabin without a hot tub 🤦🏾♀️

It’s in a nice setting and was quite tidy
The floor inside was quite dirty also would have been nice to have a bench or seating outside. Possibly a little more privacy around the hot tub but that is a preference as it was also nice to be in the woods.

The cabin was clean and comfortable, staff were friendly and helpful, shop was stocked with essentials, woods and site were clean and maintained, hot tub was checked daily
The activities (archery, crazy golf, bowling) were not available. Swimming pool has seen better days and the tennis court inside was tattered

The lodge was very comfortable the rooms where perfect for our group .. the hot tub was excellent, ready to get in as we arrived ,staff very helpful as the hot tub was a little bit too hot so they turned it down for us .beds very comfortable .The only thing that lets this place down is 4pm check in especially if your only there for 1 night as we where (bit late) and the swimming pool in the main building looks like it needs an update, looks a bit shabby and not inviting but we where more than happy with our lodge and hot tub so was not an issue
Check in time
Swimming pool needs updating

The concept of cabins in the woods is something I could never tire of and this place has done it with elegance with it's hot tubs and steam rooms. It is well laid out and there are plenty of facilities on site with compromising the feel of being in the woods.
The only thing I could criticise if I was being super critical would be the bathroom needed a little TLC and the decking on the front of our cabin around the hot tub was in need of a little maintenance not to the point of it being dangerous or anything just not as visually pleasing as the rest of the accommodation.
