Sherwood Castle by Liv Retreats

Super cute place with lots of happy holiday makers wandering about and a lovely woodland location. We were upgraded to a property with a Hot Tub which was lovely, the beds were comfortable, the place was clean and had everything we needed. Staff were lovely and the Hot Tub was checked daily. We didn’t use any of the facilities such as the pool (which looks clean but needs refurbishing) or sports facilities, but the site looks like it has some lovely things to do. We don’t agree with petting zoos so didn’t visit animal corner. There is a pizza truck but no vegan options.

Parts are tired; the toilet seat was broken (we fixed it ourselves as we are handy!) and the clasp that holds the shower head is broken (useable still). These are both things that the cleaning team would have seen. So it’s either a sloppy cleaning team not reporting issues, or a sloppy maintenance team not repairing things. But the accommodation was absolutely fine for our needs and not at all like the experience of the negative reviews I read. I paid around £400 for a 3 night weekend stay in August, which I felt was good value for the standard of accommodation. Same dates next year are closer to £600, which did make me think twice.

The location was amazing, it was close to days out at the forests and a festival. Shops were in driving distance. The facilities were enough to keep a child occupied. We had read soo really poor reviews before arriving and were worried about our stay however it wasn't as awful as expected from what we read. There's really lovely wildlife in surrounding forests which was nice to be amongst.

Nkt quite worth what we paid due to poor cleanliness and facilities run down. The cleanliness let the comfort down for our stay. The cabin was surface level cleaned but if we moved anything we could see it hadn't been. The bathroom I had to clean myself before we used it. The cabin was quite run down with things broken. The facilities were also quite run down, we didn't use the pool because it looked abandoned and refilled. There were little safety measures in place of people making bbqs or fires considering it was in the middle of a drought so felt quite uneasy being surrounded by dried forest.
