Endroit calme et arboré. Hôte très sympathique.

Very friendly and sociable host, good English, friendly, knowledgeable when it comes to the environment & culture, kind enough to make a bike available to me, and so on. Beautiful and quiet immediate environment i.e. garden and wider surroundings, as a solid basis for traveling in the area i.e. Normandy, possibly even the Paris region, and maybe even France in general. The amenities in general and the privacy offered by the host often not spending time there, himself. A fairly comfortable bed, the desk, a nice big window, and a regular offer by the host to obtain new bedding/towels (without any cleaning offered though, even for longer stays). Solid internet connection (which one should be able to expect anywhere nowadays, but still). Such AMAZING French food and drink. The cliché is REALLY not only that; it really is a special country/region, and that was probably the thing I loved the most. Vive la France! :)

First and foremost, the HEAT in the 'attic like' room upstairs (I had the small one which is probably even worse than the other one). The lack of a washing machine (overlooked when booking; I had simply expected it in a location like this). The creaky floors upstairs. The lack of cleanliness here and there. It's probably just other guests being nasty, but you need to curate this, as a host! The fact the host lives in the house, himself. The unscratched pans I did not(!) scratch that were suddenly no longer available, clearly after the host got the impression(!) that I did, or might. The remote location on the extreme outskirts of Louviers (or even just outside of it - officially, at least), and how it could (or maybe even should) be more clear one really should (or even outright needs to) have a local mode of transportation; if not a car then at least a bike for example (which can get expensive - fast). The bike the host made available to me was actually very dangerous, as I unfortunately only found out while going downhill, at speed: the handlebars were completely loose. Moreover, I write this review after months and still, to this, what really bothers me is the moment where the host just simply threw/left my freshly washed on the floor (!!) - no matter how strange you think it is that someone gets creative (and uses the adjacent room that was clearly (!) not occupied, nor going to be, especially considering when you as a host do not simply and clearly communicate where to dry one's laundry. This still gives you absolutely no reason to react in such an angry, petty, and even vindictive kind of way (let alone not getting past your own pride, as a *host* for crying out loud, and never being nearly as friendly as you previously were, any longer). Still, decent experience overall, but I simply feel I cannot give this the 8 or perhaps even the 9 that this may otherwise deserve (perfection does not exist, so I never do a 10 in any case).
