Baan Plai Laem resort Koh Paluay

Great Homestay (or little resort) along a quiet stretch of mangrove coast. While I was there i had the place to myself mostly, but even if it gets „busier“ you’ll have your private balcony for relaxing. As there is not many rooms, I can’t imagine it ever gets uncomfortably crowded. Koh Phaluai is a true gem and this is a great place to stay if you just wanna relax and get away for a few day.

While the food was good, it felt a little repetitive after a while. Also, there aren’t super many activities if you want an „active“ stay.

This accommodation is quite peaceful and very suitable for relaxing and watching the sunset in the evening. And most importantly, the accommodation sells food with a variety of menus and prices are not strong compared to other islands. Highly recommended.

LOCATION:- awesome location. while the beach in front of the guest house is a mangrove it is the closest point (20 min walk) to pristine, isolated white sand beaches. It is also next to 3 view point hikes 2 along the eco view point the 3rd through the forest and caves to reach the top of the rockface for a view into to other islands of Mu Koh Ang thom. it takes an hour to go up and come down. The owners got me a guide for 500 THB for the latter and it was completely worth the money. if you like birds there are plenty all around and a family of hornbills that come to watch the sunset with you every day ROOMS:- the room was comfy and with a view of the beach and the sunset. beds were comfy enough and there is an AC so temperatures are comfortable in the evening. (in fact the AC gets really cold at night) The days were warm and i was generally tired and sweaty after my hikes or after lazy in the beach so i took cold showers, however i did notice water heaters. The only thing i would say is it would be nice to either have a broom in the room or clean the room every other day, as the room gets sandy after a couple of days in the beach. FOOD: The food is cooked by the owners at the attached restaurant and is priced reasonably and is tasty. There is cold beer and other alcohol. I had Gin and Tonics in the evening. overall i cant complain other than to say that in the restaurant seating area if you keep the lights on at night there will be bugs. But this is normal just ask the owners to shut the light for you. THE PEOPLE: the owners are very nice hosts, once they get to know you they are helpful and friendly. overall i loved the peace and quiet and will likely be back!

Wij zochten de rust op en dat heb je hier wel op dit mooie eiland.

Kamer is erg gehorig. Als je gewoon praat dan hoor je dat duidelijk. Bed was erg hard. Douche gelegenheid erg sober en dat weet je.. Maar sanitair schoonmaken of bed enz wordt niet gedaan. Ontbijt matig geen koelkastje. Om 09.00 geen drankje meer te krijgen en geen restaurant of eten beschikbaar. Ik had wat meer klantvriendelijkheid verwacht van de eigenaresse. Overigens heb ik dat al eens eerder voorbij zien gaan in beoordelingen. En het mooie strand is niet even makkelijk te bereiken zeker niet binnen de gestelde tijd.. Kortom had er meer van verwacht. Erg jammer gelukkig is het wel een mooi eiland
