Kestrel Lodge

Lovely lodge with all you can need for your stay, welcome treats included cookies and treats for the pups which was lovely to arrive to and there was also milk in the fridge. Great hosts who were very helpful about where we could take the dogs to get them in the lake as it was very hot and helped with the BBQ. The enclosed garden is a great size and the dogs really enjoyed running free and occasionally barking at the pigs. It feels like a mini Clarksons farm with 2 pigs who of course I referred to as Richard ham and James boar. Chickens and a rooster can be found strutting around outside, sheep in the field and a duck pond...the sheer amount of different bird sounds...it was lovely to hear so many animals...it was very relaxing and the views were gorgeous. Lots of lovely farm shops within a 5/10 min drive with amazing eggs. Really cute riverside pub 5 mins away who are very dog friendly and even have a pup menu 😀 The heat prevented us from doing much with the dogs but thats nothing against the lodge...I would highly recommend.

If you have dogs the lodge can get quite hot but we did go at the start of the heatwave and it was 29 degrees - again couldn't be helped...if you have a portable air con unit I would recommend as that helped a little. If you have reactive dogs the owners are next door with their own...we didnt have many kick offs and we have a clicker that stops our dogs barking so that helped

The lodge was brilliant. It is modern, very clean and everything works. There is enough parking to fit 2 vans. There is a lovely garden area that is fenced off, suitable for kids/dogs to play in, with a lovely view on the other side.

Firstly, this lodge is 100% dog friendly large well kept grass area for the dogs to play, there is a good 360 wire fence securing the area which also allows the dogs to chase and do circuits around the lodge. Facilities are top notch with everything you need for your stay and is all very clean. The welcome pack is thoughtful and most welcome. There are lots of placed to visit with or without dogs and shopping can be delivered which is very handy. Would I go back again yes, nice calm view, nice hosts who are very friendly and willing to help further your stay.
