Can’t think of a thing we did not like!

We had a great stay at Casa Fortuna. Communication was excellent, and we received a warm and personal welcome. The pool is a real highlight—perfect for relaxing! The accommodation is well equipped, very clean, and well maintained. It’s located a bit outside, so having a car is recommended, but this also makes it nice and quiet. Overall, a lovely place that we would recommend.

The host was very responsive and available. She texted the information beforehand. But the host can speak only Spanish. Location was very good and convenient. Only 20 mins drive to La Fortuna and all activities around. The place is very safe. It is a gated house with plenty of outdoor space. The private pool and jacuzzi were a plus. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable. All rooms had AC's.

The front door locks automatically as soon as it closes, and a key is required to get back in. This was never communicated to us in advance. On the very first day, within minutes of arriving, we stepped outside and the door closed behind us, leaving us locked out. Fortunately, we had a phone with us and were able to contact the host to get the spare keys. However, this was a serious safety concern. If we had not had a phone, we would have been stranded outside with no way to re-enter the property, especially since the gate was also closed. It was a frightening experience, and this is something the host absolutely should have informed us about upfront. The bathrooms were clean and there were plenty of towels available. However, the soap and shampoo provided in both bathrooms were extremely diluted, almost as if only a drop of product had been mixed into a bottle of water. They were not usable. The biggest issue was the kitchen. It was dirty and had an unpleasant smell. Many of the utensils were rusted, and the non-stick pans and pots were heavily scratched and not in usable condition. Even the ceramic plates and bowls needed to be washed before we felt comfortable using them. On top of that, the kitchen sink was leaking, and on our very first night, we ended up cleaning up that mess ourselves. Overall, the kitchen was in very poor condition. So Day 1 ended with us being locked out of the house and then having to deal with cleaning up a leaking sink. On Day 2, we tried to use the washer and dryer to wash the towels we had used after the pool. Unfortunately, the washer outlet had an issue, and soapy water flooded all the way into the kitchen. We contacted the host immediately, but were told that help would only be available after an hour. Once again, we had to clean up the mess ourselves. I have attached photos and videos. This is not something anyone should have to deal with during a vacation stay. we stopped using the washer/dryer, and kitchen after this.
