Durham City Cottages

The recently refurbished cottages are in a private courtyard adjacent to the Bay Horse Inn in Brandon. Each cottage has it's own car space in front of the cottage - so convenient. The cottage was very well presented and very clean. It had a superb mini kitchen - excellently fitted and equipped with fridge, hob, microwave, Nespresso coffee machine, kettle, toaster and dishwasher. We went out to the local Co-op and bought the groceries for the evening meal and breakfast. The lounge had a table, two chairs and a sofa. The en-suite was a delight - spacious with a large shower with both rainfall and hand held shower heads and a large heated towel rail. The apartment was spotlessly clean. The staff maintaining the cottages were very friendly, efficient and effective. It represented very good value for money and yes we would return here again if in the area.

In the evening the cottage was a bit cold and we did not know how to turn on the heating. We were told the following morning that we should have phoned the person in charge who would have switched the centralised timer on. We were only staying one night so did not try this out.

Great little cottage. Was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. Check in and out was so easy. And was great having the bay horse right outside

We didn’t realise we had booked the cottage without a back garden which we would have liked. But this still didn’t spoil our stay

Good property and generally clean. The only real problem we had was trying to access the WiFi (and with no signal on our mobiles that was a problem) When I finally managed to get a signal and get in touch with the host he responded quickly and apologised.

Absolutely no information provided in the property on how things worked, WiFi access etc. ☹️ Other than that fine.

Location ideal for Durham. Short drive to park and ride. Parking outside the cottage. Sunny courtyard. Kitchen/dining/living area very nice. Good shower. Friendly and helpful owner.

Design of bedroom/bathroom area which is small and so awkward to use.
