Hillview Cottage

The location. The cottage was equipped with everything needed for a self catering holiday. Very clean. Shower was lovely and warm. Great Wi-Fi. An ideal base for exploring the surrounding area.

The location and size of the house and garden was great. Kitchen was fairly well equipped. Kids loved the games room in garage. Fire place was lovely. Was okay for a short stay.

Booklet on how to use the items in the cottage was missing, eg had to Google how to use the thermostat, wasn't sure which bins were ours etc. The house wasn't the cleanest inside. Someone had clearly been smoking in the master bedroom at some point, the duvet and towels smelled of stale smoke. When my toddler and I woke up in the morning, our hair and pyjamas smelled of stale smoke so I was very unimpressed by that. The sofa and chairs in the living room have seen better days and all the support has worn out of them - not very comfy to relax on! The single bedroom down stairs had a mattress which also needs replaced - very lumpy. There were people staying in the house in front of ours, and they had 5 vehicles in the shared driveway at one point. I also had to ask them to stop their dog from toileting on what I believed to be our cottages garden. I wasn't aware of this garden layout set up before booking.
