Weekend Stay
The apartment is very well situated right in the middle of Porthcawl. Ideal for all the local amenities, pubs and clubs and restaurants. It is very well appointed with everything you need. It is absolutely beautiful, very comfy and relaxing.

Pretty to look at but cleanliness of utensils and bedding worrying.
Nice design and layout
Dirty cutlery and pots and pans that had not been thoroughly washed by previous visitors. Had to buy my own pans to use. Blood and faeces on the spare duvet in the hallway. No toilet rolls, washing up liquid or tea towels or any cleaning products to help keep the place clean. I also had to buy these. No non slip mat in the bath/ shower. My Mum slipped and hurt herself because of this.

Very stressful
The property is tidy and reasonably comfortable. The location is very central albeit the entrance is a little difficult to find.
As per David, we had problems with the obnoxious downstairs neighbour who did his best to spoil our stay by knocking on the door at 1am claiming that there was shouting and noise (there was nothing). In addition, he did his best to wake us up by playing loud music outside from 6am in the morning until 9am. I felt somewhat sorry for the landlord as clearly this guy has decided he doesn't want a holiday let upstairs to him, therefore tries to ruin the stay of tenants. However, my sympathy dissolved when the landlord claimed we had made a stain on the sofa bed and is trying to charge us for such which is a complete fabrication. Any markings on the sofa bed were certainly not caused by us. We have video evidence that we left the flat in a tidy state which we have submitted to the agent, Sykes Cottages. As others have said, there is a fault with the heating which you are informed about when you arrive via a note on the fridge, however as the weekend we stayed was warm, this didn't impact our stay.

not good at all
the apartment itself is lovely, we have stayed here before hence we booked for a special occasion which cost us a lot of money
we had problems from the start with the door, the key was so tight we didnt want to force it for fear of it snapping.we were greeted with a note on the freezer telling us the thermostat for the heating was not working but feel free to use the control knobs on boiler which were set to low, so we opened the boiler to find the controls both set to max and a clear light saying fault so we didnt even attempt to touch it ,we should have been notified of this prior to our arrival ,so we had no heating all weekend and couldnt even bath with the boiler situation which is not acceptable, it didnt help most of the windows were wide open on arrival, yes the weather was lovely day time but really cold in evening so it was really cold in the apartment which made our stay uncomfortable to say the least, we had the neighbour below shouting that we kept their kids awake making noise until gone 1am which was absolute lies we also heard the noise but it certaintly was not us I am 74 years of age and my wife has terminal cancer we are in bed way before that. we came for our 25th wedding anniversary and we paid a lot of money to stay at this apartment as we previously stayed here and my wife and I was so happy we couldnt rate it high enough then , but this time it was so unpleasant with the heating /water situation we came home a day early as my wife was too cold as I were ,and not able to bath .this weekend was meant to be a quiet relaxing weekend for my wife to be in her happy place porthcawl to celebrate an occasion we didnt think she would make for one more time before her life ends and unfortunately this didnt happen, we spent over 500 pounds for this weekend so upset

Comfortable apartment in prime location
Clean spacious apartment. Very close to shops and restaurants and the sea. Beautifully decorated with some lovely homely touches. Great for younger couples.
Described as sea glimpses - we struggled to see the sea. Garden door latch jammed as we were leaving and had to enlist neighbours help to take off the latch! Tried to discuss with letting agent but, given an emergency number and they didn't return the call. Narrow staircase to front door but, described as a few steps to front door. Rather challenging for my 84 year old spritely Mum! Could have done with some additional kitchen equipment such as egg cups/ casserole dishes please!

We enjoyed it but too noisy.
Generally good facilities and nine decor
A lot of loud music and TV from neighbours from at least two directions. The wooden floor in the lounge was part of the problem and would benefit from thick underlay and carpet. The door lock is so stiff that the key could easily snap off ' a disaster for a visitor - it needs oiling NOW!. No welcome pack with details of how to adjust the heating- a drawer stuffed with manuals is not adequate. A broken curtain hook and tumble drier not working gives the impression that the flat lacks weekly oversight. The steep metal fire-escape type outside stairs doesn't make for risk free access, especially for the elderly and in wet or ice conditions- this needs flagging up on the website. Getting heavy cases up and down was a struggle for us.
