Detached Villa with private Pool and amazing Sea view

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Villa La Sirena.The photos do not do justice to the view which we will very much miss!The property was exceedingly well provisioned and the hosts very kindly left us a bottle of rose for our arrival. The hosts Birgit and Philip were exceptional in their communications, promptly responding to queries and providing guides with ready information. The pool was a very good size and there was plenty of space for parking within the grounds. We were travelling with our 1 year old son. Birgit and Philip very kindly supplied a cot to us. Our son had a lovely time though sadly the pool was a bit too cold for him (we travelled mid-May).The only thing that caught us by surprise is one of the bedrooms is self-contained -we were initially confused by the lack of one bedroom but we worked it out quickly. Costa Paradiso as a locality has some amazing views. There is a good beach nearby though this does take a bit of a walk to get there (we drove half way). There were well provisioned shops within easy walking distance. All in all - we had a marvellous time and we can thoroughly recommend Villa La Sirena! If anything one week was just not enough time!

The house was absolutely beautiful inside and out. Quite clean with lots of towels and the kitchen has lots of dishes and pans for cooking. And some interesting liquor for sampling. Also, it was so nice to arrive to find cookies, wine, fruit, water and juice. So thoughtful. The sunsets were spectacular from the pool which was such a nice place to cool down after exploring the island. Nice grocery store nearby. And close to interesting places - Sassari, Castelsardo, nuraghi sites . . . We had a visit from the local cinghiali - too cute. Really can't say enough lovely things about the experience. And communications both pre and during the visit were quick and very helpful.. We highly, highly, highly recommend this amazing home.

Everything was perfect - we had a fantastic week with family - two children and their partners. Villa Serena has the most wonderful views / sunsets; accommodation worked really well for the six of us; beautiful coves to explore by car and by hiring a boat. When not out exploring the pool was lovely to come back to and relax round.

It can often be hard to understand what a property is actually like from the descriptions provided; I'll do my best to cover the key elements here. Positives: The views (and sunsets) are indeed good. It's very quiet and peaceful The villa is clean and well equipped. Lots of chairs/seating and space around the pool. Good provision of linen and towels. There is plenty of space and parking. Negatives: Costa Paradiso is a very uniform resort, presumably purpose-built and with a lack of character or variety. It's a ten minute walk to the shops/restaurants and the choice here is limited. You have to drive to get to the beach (or hike for 45 minutes if you prefer). On our arrival we found some (soiled) underwear in the bottom of the swimming pool, presumably left by the previous guests. Yuck! The pool is chilly and of a single (quite deep) depth so not ideal for children. There is limited hot water. Water heating is principally by solar, but even after a long sunny day you can't get more than three warm showers out of the system. There is an additional switch with a big red label and warnings not to turn it on; presumably this provides some back up water heating. There is a general lack of information in the villa about the local area, amenities and things to do and see; there seems to be an assumption that people will just know the set-up and their way around. Access is by keysafe. We received no contact or visit from the Villa's managers during our week-long stay. I guess you could view that as being positive or negative. Wildlife. Whilst this is partly outside the villa's control, it was a surprising problem: When trying to eat outside we were repeatedly mobbed by wasps and had to eat inside as a result. There were quite a lot of mosquitoes in the property, and we all got bitten. The property is constantly subject to invasion by small ants. We spent a couple of hours dealing with three significant incursions. There are also wild boar and cats, though these didn't bother us. In summary it's a nice peaceful villa, but not without some problems.
