The accommodation was clean, comfortable, great location, quiet location and had everything we needed for a week stay. It was also located whereby we could travel to key locations for fishing, walking and enjoy the food and activities that Batemans Bay has to offer. Although other areas we visited were in a very short distance e.g. Murramarang, National Park, Beaches, Zoo, Botanical Gardens.

The place itself was comfortable and generally quiet. The first-floor space was overall nice for the stay.

The listing was advertised as a “whole house,” but it is only the first floor. There are residents on the second floor. We did not see or hear anyone during the stay, but when we were leaving we noticed someone upstairs watching us through the curtains, which felt uncomfortable. There were also some cleanliness/maintenance issues outside: an empty beer bottle used as an ashtray on the upstairs balcony, and a burnt cigarette left near the first-floor entrance. The main issue, though, was the tone of the host’s messages. They were mostly instructions (“leave the driveway clear and park on the kerb,” “keep my place clean,” and a late reminder to check out by 10am), followed by a request to leave a nice review and comments about it being “budget accommodation.” If it is budget accommodation, that is fine — but the listing should present it that way rather than calling it a “newly renovated gem.” Also, even for budget accommodation, providing more toilet paper than what is already on the roll is a basic expectation. Overall, the stay could have been very good, but the misleading “whole house” wording and the host communication made it feel like we were inconveniencing them rather than being welcomed as paying guests.
