Check-in was super easy. We were visiting Barcelona for the first time, with two parents and 2 small children (ages 3 and 1). We were met upon arrival by the caretaker, who showed us around the apartment and gave us keys. Our apartment had 3 bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom. The bedrooms are small; we had to move chairs and side tables around to fit in our kids' mattress and crib. There is not much room for "hanging around" but it is definitely enough for our vacation. We stayed for six nights in June-July and we were comfortable the entire time. There is air conditioning in the living room area; at night, if it was too warm, we kept it on and left the doors open. There is one ceiling fan in the main bedroom, and one floor fan in one of the other bedrooms. The kitchen is adequate; there's no oven, but it has a 3-burner range and a pod coffee maker (Lavazza), a toaster, a small microwave, as well as a dish washer (which we didn't use). There were enough dishes and utensils, but very little "extras" -- for example, food storage, paper towels, salt (besides little packets). There are several grocery stores within a few blocks, so it's not difficult to stock up on the necessities. We did break a dish but the owners were understanding and were not charged. The laundry is fine; as is the case in most European houses, there is no dryer. We did have to purchase clothespins to hang the clothes to dry (there is a small drying area by the washing machine). The wifi was very strong. The location of the apartment is perfect for a young family. There are plenty of restaurants, plazas, and playgrounds within a short walk, and the metro and bus stops are easy to get to (5-15 minute walk). It's a short walk to Sagrada Familia, and a longer walk to sites like the old Cathedral (took us about 40 minutes).

The biggest downside was the noise from other apartments; we heard noise from small parties on several nights into the wee night hours (3 or 4 am). That said, when we turned on a white noise machine or track we fell asleep easily. Some of the tools are old. The vegetable peeler, for example, is very dull. We did need to purchase clothespins for the rack (it was only about 1 EU) and it was difficult to find coffee pods for the Lavazza coffee machine (we did find them at a nearby specialty Italian coffee store). The bedroom closest to the entryway felt like it got very warm overnight. We set up a fan in there at night.

Everything was ok. Communication with host was excellent. Very Nice neighbourhood.

Very strong smell of smoke. One bed very hard and uncomfortable.
