Beachfront Bliss with Spectacular Views

The location was fantastic with beautiful views over the estuary and a perfect location for viewing the solar eclipse, which was the reason for booking it.

I tried numerous times to confirm with the owner that we could bring our dog and could have two parking permits, but had no response. I got some automated emails regarding bed configuration and arrival instructions but there was no response to my answers. On arrival we saw the building was surrounded by scaffolding with obvious signs of ongoing building work. Inside the entrance and stairwells were shabby and dirty, despite a 'maintenance and cleaning record' on the wall showing it was all good the day before. When we got in (the lock was dodgy) it was clear that it hadn't been serviced. The beds had been slept in, the kitchen and bathroom were filthy, the bins hadn't been emptied and there was mouldy washing in the washing machine. There wasn't enough clean linen to make up the beds and there were only two towels. We had to go out and buy some. The bathroom lights and extractor didn't work, so we had to use our phone torches. On the second night the fan suddenly kicked in! Obviously an electrical problem. The smoke alarm had been ripped out of the hallway and was on a shelf in the kitchen. There wasn't even a saucepan in the kitchen let alone it being 'fully equipped '! The fridge is propped up on drink mats and is running very hot, ie: it works but the outside is hotter than the average radiator! The carpet is threadbare where it joins the kitchen floor and the spikes of the gripper rod are poking through, discovered by my granddaughter stepping on it. The balcony can't be used due to the building work, there's rubble falling down and the table and chairs are up on the scaffolding! I eventually got a response from the owner but I think this is a remotely serviced property on a rent to let contract. It's a money making property investment.
