Excellent stay lovely home

Auld Tom’s rest was very comfortable and the decor tasteful . The property is about 12 min walk into the historic area of St Andrews . The area around is a very ordinary housing estate however the home is exceptionally comfortable and only a short walk to the historic town . It is great value for money I travelled with two friend we all had our own rooms I would not hesitate to return to this house and have a longer stay . The owner’s communication was regular, helpful and friendly the instruction book was straightforward and covered everything

Easy to operate key safe. Warm and welcoming home from home. Detailed booklet on locale and brilliant "How to" guide for everything within the house. Beautifully clean. Very comfortable beds. (All 3 of us slept very well!) Lots of little details in the decor and presentation to make it feel special.

There were no downsides to our trip at all.

Great property, superbly located with an extremely friendly and helpful owner.

The location was excellent. Close to shops and a short walk into the beautiful town centre of St Andrews. Garry, the owner, replied almost instantly to all my messages and gave us great recommendations for restaurants and things to do. The property had good sized bedrooms, modern furniture, great kitchen facilities and was spotlessly clean throughout. Combined with fine weather for golf, the property gave us a great base to enjoy the 3 day stay. I would recommend without hesitation or reservation.

"Perfect". Will be our #1 choice. Just Class!

Everything was just great. The home was in an excellent location, a short walk to all local shops and the main streets of the town. The house was just fantastic, immaculately clean and tastefully presented to the highest standard. The beds were cosy, the sofa was relaxing and the kitchen had a comfortable seating area with loads of extra complimentary goodies. The garden was also relaxing, where we enjoyed our coffee and drinks on the deck. Will definitely be back.

Lovely house close to everything.

The house was very comfortable and suited our needs perfectly. It was an easy walk into town and the communication from the host was excellent as he provided helpful and friendly information. The bus service was excellent and stops right outside the door. Lots of supermarkets close by for any food/drink needs

Perfect home away from home, Garry cares like family.

We were travelling with grandparents and children and we found everything we could have needed available within the house. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, and our host Garry was generous, attentive, thorough, kind and professional. We have been going to St. Andrews for four years now, and this was by far our best stay. Attention to detail, very luxurious and spacious - perfect for a big family too. Parking was never an issue, in spite of it being the busiest time of the year.

We only have one regret, that we were not able to stay there longer. Perhaps one day we will have an opportunity to spend a couple of weeks.

A home away from home!

Auld Tom's Rest definitely was one of the best self-catering accommodations we've ever been to! It is a sweet little house with a nice garden (with a cozy place to sit and a clothesline!) and so very well equipped! Not only did Gary, the host, present us with fresh milk, a bottle of wine, tea and coffee as well as a jar of sweets for the kids; there were so many useful items in the kitchen, like oil, flour, salt, herbs and sauces, even baking paper! Besides, there is plenty of cutlery, plates, all kinds of pots and pans etc. etc. We like to cook so we really appreciated that! A booklet made by Gary gave detailed information regarding the house as well as restaurant/pub recommendations and city maps, which also helped to make our stay as smooth as possible. Thank you for going that extra mile!! Surroundings of the house: We arrived by bus in St. Andrews and walked from the Stagecoach Bus Station to the house: 20 minutes via the city center and next to a little river, very lovely! There is also a (local) bus stop in front of the house. I recommend grocery shopping at Aldi's which is very close to the house, or at Naturity's in South Street (many healthy and organic products).

Stay in St Andrews

We arrived and the house was spotlessly clean and well presented throughout. Little touches were nice including tea, coffee and biscuits. Beds were very comfortable. The house is in a great location approximately a 10 minute walk into the main part of St Andrews. The host was extremely helpful throughout the booking process providing recommendations for restaurants and bars. Would definitely book again on our next visit to St Andrews.

Wonderful from start to finish!

This is definitely a gem! Decorated with class, attention to detail and comfort, walking distance to town, close to groceries. There’s nothing you won’t like about this house! And Garry provides a big house manual full of great recommendations. We ate at The Rule. A++.

A handy and good value base for visiting St Andrews, especially if you need three bedrooms.

The accommodation was modest but fine for our purposes as we needed three bedrooms and were basically out all the time - we didn't cook main meals. The location didn't look very promising as we drove up - a small ex-council house I would guess but proved to be very handy as we could easily get to the old part of the city on foot and the walk was pleasant. The house had been tastefully and comfortably furnished. We didn't meet the host but he was prompt in replying to queries by text.

it was quite hard to locate the house/ 'Aiuld Tom's Rest' does not appear as a house name.

A high quality accommodation, a great spot to explore St Andrews, just a short walk into town.

The overall feel of the inside was ‘high quality’. Very comfortable beds, attractive furnishings throughout, lovely (and clean!) bathroom, and great kitchen. Lots of little extra details like the biscuit jar!

Excellent comfortable home from home for st Andrews visit

Comfortable furniture, good location, spacious and clean! Nice shower.

We struggled with figuring out the heating controls, having to google how to use the Nest controller. A short guide would’ve been very welcome. Also,there was a large pot we tried to use for pasta which didn’t work on the induction hob, so I’m not sure why it is there- just caused a bit of confusion. But kitchen well supplied in general for everyday cooking.

A fabulous stay!

The property was in a very good location, quiet street, very close to an Aldi and an M&S Foodhall. Five to ten minute walk to St Andrews city centre. Parking was available outside on a side road. Clean and tidy inside and decorated to a very high standard. Garry had thought of everything and we enjoyed the complimentary snacks, tea, coffee and wine provided. The games in the living room were also a great addition. Excellent value for money, especially when staying with group of friends or couples etc. Checking in and out was very easy and great communication from Garry on wifi code, lock for the keys as well as some bars and restaurants. Garry was also very prompt when I asked questions throughout the stay. Overall I will definitely plan to come back and recommend to others who are looking for somewhere to stay in St Andrews!

a beautiful and comfortable place to stay in St Andrews

Auld Tom’s Rest is simply outstanding. We stayed at AT’sR for a weekend in January to celebrate my wife’s birthday and we had a man amazing time. The host Garry made our stay extra special and one to remember. His communication and the attention to detail were first class. We would recommend that you book a stay without hesitation. The property is beautiful and spotlessly clean. Parking and local amenities are great with shops just the end of the road. We will be back!

This is a fantastic place to stay to explore St Andrews. We stayed for two nights and used it as a base for our excursions to the golf courses as well as the town centre. The house was spotlessly clean and comfortable with every facility that you could expect. The advice and communication we received from Garry both prior to, during and after our visit was first class. Location is excellent for exploring and accessing all local attractions and parking was no problem. I would have no reservation in recommending this property unreservedly.
