The best experience with private onsen. Good location, amenities and food (dinner & breakfast) were amazing. The building is clean. But it would be better at cleaning for onsen bathtubs.

The hotel is located in front of the river and the rooms face the river/mountain ahead which is a lovely scenery, specially having the onsen on the balcony, so you can enjoy both the onsen and the views. The meals were hearty and the staff was friendly, after dinner they'd hold a "cocktail bar" sort of vibe in the dining area, so you could have dinner, have some chill time and get back to have some drinks. The lady at the bar was incredibly friendly and really pacient with my broken japanese, she made the experience even more fun. They also have a "snacks room" with many onsen typical snacks as well as alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages available, which is nice.

As a foreigner, I didn't mind it that much but the service is definitively different from tradicional ryokans, it is a bit more laid back, although still being really good, I say this so the reader understands when they read some of the japanese folk reviews. My issue with the place wasn't really the hotel itself but Nasushiobara itself. I wouldn't recommend a visit during winter if you'd like to explore around. Also, the town was run down with various building abandoned. I missed the type of onsen town vibes you get in a place like Kusatsu onsen, for instance. Also, the shinkansen station, Nishi-Nasuno, is pretty far from Nasushiobara - a taxi from there is not particularly cheap, bear that in mind.
