Abhaya Mandapa

This is an amazing place. Unlike beachside holiday destinations, this was built for purpose. What is amazing was that it is a fully vegetarian and non-alcoholic hotel. Visitors to the holy city expect calm, serene, well catered for purpose of travel. The availability of a separate fully serviced purpose-built room for making devotional milk-rice was practical unexpected and fully free of additional charges. This is probably found nowhere else in the island.

Nothing to mention, everything was as expected. A lift to get up to the second floor would have been handy for those with weak knees. A curtain to cover the back wall in the dining room area. This would provide more privacy for the diners.

Abaya Mandapa is a hidden gem in Anuradhapura. The hotel is in a lovely place where one can see four Stupas from the hotel balcony, including Ruwanweli Maha Seya. Walking along the path on the dam of the “Basavakulama Lake” in the evening, at night, and early in the morning brought a sense of peace and tranquility. The hotel was beautiful, well-planned, and comfortable, with all modern amenities. Mr. Prasanna and his staff were wonderful and accommodating to our needs with a smile and a kind heart. We had three meals, and they were delicious, including the best roast pan we had tasted in a very long time

The rooms are nice, but not so clean (bathroom). In the First Night we did not have hot Water, but it was fixes the day After. But we had to ask twice for fixing the light in the bathroom and for Tools paper. Some Staff members tried to their best.

The rooms were not made up during the stay, although there is a Lot of Staff.
