The lodge is a perfect alternative to hotels in St Austell. Walking distance to Porthpean & Duporth beaches (easy & safe path) as well as Charlestown. Clean and comfortable living room & kitchen area to make it feel more like home. Private patio gets sun in the morning. Great for trips to visit Cornwall, even a long weekend or remote working getaway! Convenient public transport links to town and St Austell train station. 10min walk to the nearest supermarket. Lena & Dave were very communicative and helpful throughout my stay.
Bedroom and bathroom are snug but plenty space for two guests. Big shower makes up for it! Not fully private as there's a main house on the same driveway, but the owners have done a great job to make it feel like you're by useful. No recycling bin.

It was well located for beaches, walks, choice of supermarkets, places of interest including The Eden Project, where we were attending a concert.
Lack of privacy. The main living area was overlooked by the owners’ upstairs, so we could be seen through the patio doors,there were no blinds or curtains over the front door so everyone going up the driveway ( which were quite frequent) could see right in.Also the garden area is not fully fenced off , so again anyone visiting the main house walks/drives right past. So we felt on show all the time we were there. Lack of storage- we have stayed in a few similar sized properties which had plenty of storage but we had nowhere to hang or put clothes, there was limited storage in the kitchenette area too and due to a very tiny worktop we accidentally turned the hob on a few times and couldn’t fit much on the draining board as it was also tiny. Generally the accommodation was very clean, however when we arrived we took two mugs out to make a cuppa but one of the mugs had been put away without being washed so obviously not checked which wasn’t great for first impressions. There was also a stain on the bed sheet which although we felt the bedding was clean, again felt it shouldn’t be used if stained.

Lodge is in a perfect walking location to visit the coastal villages near by. It was super clean and warm and hosts were very friendly and accommodating. We really enjoyed our stay at the lodge and would consider staying there again in the future!
