The photos honestly don’t do the space justice - there are vaulted ceilings throughout and the daytime light is incredible. The kitchen is kitted out with all kinds of equipment, like food processor, blender, and a nice full knife set and pots/pans. If you cook, this would be a great set-up and it’s near a large market. It’s a quiet residential neighborhood while still being a short drive away from bustling spots (like Margaritaville) and beaches. There are beach towels available for you to take, if you choose to do that! The back deck overlooks Ena’s garden which I’m sure will be bursting with fruit later in the season and is a great spot to relax and watch the sunset. Ena herself is often around and if she is available, will often offer to drop you at the spot you are headed off to (obviously, it is best if this is close by as the gas prices continue to rise on the island). It was perfect for me to rest and decompress after a long week of living on a boat and learning to sail!
This is more of a St. Thomas taxi infrastructure issue vs. a property issue, but it can be challenging to find a taxi driver who knows how to get to the location. Always best to simply call Ena and hand the phone over to the taxi driver so she can explain how to get there! Otherwise, she has a few taxi drivers who know exactly how to get to her spot and are great folks that you can call upon. Ena knows this can be a challenge for visitors and makes every effort to smooth out the arrival. Just make sure to call or text her! She is extremely responsive and true to island culture - verbal communication is key!

We had a wonderful stay at Scotland Villa. Right off the bat, we were impressed by how clean and cozy the apartment was, as well as the attention to detail. You can tell how much care and pride the hosts put into their units, and that they want you to feel at home while you are staying there. It has a wrap-around porch with great views of the surrounding countryside and a huge walk-in closet in the main bedroom. If you need a break from the beach, you can cook up a frozen pizza and play board games while enjoying the scenic view of the mountains. If you want to be out and about, it's an easy 9-minute drive from Red Hook and even closer to Coki Point Beach, Sapphire Beach, and the restaurants at Margaritaville and Point Pleasant resorts. Location-wise, you couldn't ask for a better spot.
It's in the mountains, so if you are renting a car, then you may want a Jeep or SUV, especially if you're used to driving on flat terrain (i.e., the Midwest). We had a compact sedan and eventually figured it out (lots of engine braking when going downhill), and even started to have fun with it while coasting down to get dinner at Margaritaville or go to the beach. With an All Wheel Drive vehicle, it'd be super easy.
All in all, this is one of the best private rentals on the island, and you won't be disappointed staying there. Did I mention how comfortable the beds were? We got amazing sleep the entire time we were there, and that made our vacation on St. Thomas that much better. We loved staying at Scotland Villa, and you will too!

It was beautiful, very comfortable and in an out of the way location. It was a perfect get-away spot for our family!!
I really loved everything! It was off the beaten path and getting there was pretty hilly but once we arrived it was hard to tear ourselves away to explore the island.
